was trying to upload a 43 MB video but it gave me errors, so i thought i hit the max upload size, but how much is it on this instance?

    I get the same no matter how small, but I’m not sure if it’s because of the instance or because of my client. I just default to hosting it elsewhere and linking.

    Using Voyager, by the way.

      what do you use for sharing videos on lemmy posts? like, a service that makes a link that points directly to the video so that lemmy displays it directly, like it does for some image hosting providers like imgbb?

        I’ve used catbox.moe for a long time. It does the job well enough for most cases.

        I recently decided to roll my own due to various reasons, so if catbox doesn’t do what you need and you’re interested in testing mine, give me a DM and I can set you up with login details. It’s a work in progress, but it works.

    Uploading video to Lemmy is hard. Size limit aside, unless it’s very short, you need it to be VP9 in WebM or ffmpeg times out. The default max frame count is just 900, too.
