I host a AudioBookShelf server and use its Android app (it has iOS too) to connect to it. Its nice because it downloads the files to the system and then you stream it from that system. You can also create RSS feeds out of stuff in the collection and share them to people. So you could sub to a premium podcast and share an RSS feed from your server to give other people access.
It can search the Apple Podcast library and then import it to the system.
Its a good way to preserve dead podcasts too and still listen to them using a podcasting app.

I love it. Getting it accessible outside my network was a pain, but once it was set up, it was easy.
