Such a cool moment in time. Every time I see Ollie off the track it brings a smile to my face. He really seems like a great guy getting to enjoy his career with youthful excitement and sharing his passion with the ones who came before him. Also love seeing Alain staying active in the motorsport world. He’s undoubtedly drawing fans of all ages, Ollie being one of them!

The right foot brake thing is something I’ve only recently learned of for these older cars… I suppose that was to help with turbo lag somehow and the need to heel and toe in a normal pedal setup?
Look up a video of Walter Rohrl technique, especially in the audi quattro rally car. It’s like a dance. You’re welcome.

Basically, they rev the engine and then release the clutch so the engine rpm matches the road-speed in the lower gear. It allows for faster release of the clutch.

Thanks I get that, and that’s a great breakdown but I’m thinking it’s that the brake is on the extreme right of the pedal box but maybe it’s just that unlike karts and modern F1 the brake is operated by the right foot, not that the pedal order is swapped or something. I guess driving a “normal” car this fact doesn’t seem odd but for a F1 driver it is.

Ollie says “right foot brake” which is different from modern F1 with two pedals where the left foot only is for breaking.
