There are nice people in the world. Got home, it was bin night yesterday and so I went to collect my bins which were half full of water from the rain. The tradies who are renovating the house next door saw me struggling with the big recycling bin and swooped in and emptied it out and put it away for me. And the other bin too. I feel blessed.
That sounds so wholesome.
Just got off a translation services call at work. I quote the translator: “She is swearing at you now, she wants me to translate swearing words”
I hope the translation was something entertaining like ‘May the donkey fleas bite your privates and your mother is a pond algae’

Day 4 of sickness, still a snotty horrible mess. Used tissues all over the place. Forcing myself to do some work as to-do list is piling up and no sick leave and all. But my brain says migrate to the couch and watch TV all day.
Edit - the tissues are now in the bin, that’s better.

So warm last night. And the night before it was cold. I need my fucking sleep or I get angry.
I stayed in bed late, hiding from the raging winds and rain outside. Current feels like temp is -3.1o (although the actual temp has made it all the way up to 8o). This is probably heading your way, so you might want to brace yourself.

It was about 12-13 degrees last night when I went to sleep.
Pretty warm compared to what it has been lately.
It wasn’t even cold when I left for work this morning, thankfully I always check the temp before going to bed as I seem to be more sensitive to it these days.

Got up this morning and instinctively put on the ducted heating. About 15 minutes I turned it off when I realised it’s not that bad.
Same here. Didn’t even need the heating to shower in comfort for the first time in a month or more. Big rain incoming though.
I’m happy with rain, the wind can piss off.

I used my rice cooker to make coconut rice for the first time and I’m sitting here wondering why I’ve never done this before.
Is it a full replacement of water with coconut milk or a blend?
Full replacement, but I used light coconut milk. Don’t think it would have worked full with regular. It’s delicious.
I might have to try that sometime with my rice cooker though recently I got the water ratio wrong.
Do you use the same amount of coconut milk as you would water?
Yeah the same amount of liquid, I had enough to fill the amount I was cooking. Light is watered down already, for regular I’d use maybe 1/3 water.

There’s a delightfully unhinged novel called A Short History of Tractors in Ukrainian by Marina Lewycka that I think you would enjoy very much. If you haven’t found it already that is. A best seller in its day and stands the test of time. Does not noticeably contain tractors.

I had a brief patch of blue sky and managed to time a brief dog walk to take advantage of it. It didn’t last long and it’s back to raining again now.

Bad night of sleep, feeling headachey, chucked a sickie. This week just feels awful. Feeling very conflicted and nervous and hoping it doesn’t bleed into my holiday week!

I was waking up every few hours (kind of unusual for me) and falling back asleep. Managed to get about 7.5 in total, and feeling okayish.
Shit night for many people it seems.
If I’d gotten up at normal wakey time, I was looking at a little under 5 hours sleep. Stupid 4am brain going “but what about THIS?!”
