I’m even seeing some Redditors on non-political subreddits praising China’s handling of AI compared to the US. Not long ago it would have been a very tall order to find anyone saying anything pro-China whatsoever on Reddit outside of very specific places like r/sino.

Chinese companies releasing open models is making all the tech bros China pilled now. If you visit any LLM specific subs like r/LocalLLaMA everybody is praising China there. Aside from being a great move in terms of capturing the market, it creates so much good will around the world. Tech people like open source, they like being able to run stuff locally, and the fact that China is making this stuff accessible to regular people is completely changing their views on it.

I also noticed that a lot of people are starting to acknowledge China’s leadership in clean energy on reddit, and this is another area where even a year ago everybody was screaming about emissions from China. Now it’s becoming undeniable that China is moving off fossils are a breakneck pace, while the US is embracing them.
