      They’re probably close, depending how full its belly is! Pellets aren’t all that big, and they are the shape of the gizzard, the second chamber of an owl’s stomach.

      Food goes into the proventriculus, where it gets softened up by acids and enzymes, then moves to the gizzard to get squeezed. Once everything digestible is extracted, the non-digestibles are compressed into a pellet, which them moves up to the proventriculus. It’s held there for about 10 hours until it gets expelled, and then the owl can eat again.
