Interesting to see how many hardline Conservatives are apparently just fine with him shredding every single one of their Constitutional rights.

conservatives never gave a shit about the constitution. it’s always been the democrats who gave a shit about the rules, at least since the 1960s when the parties switched

It was actually more recent than that.

I’m old enough to remember the early days of the internet, and I can tell you with 100% confidence that back in the late 90’s, old-school Republicans still knew the Constitution backwards and forwards, and could argue it with perfect comprehension. That was back when they really did care more about the facts, than your feelings. It didn’t matter why you wanted to do a thing, if it wasn’t expressly written in the Constitution, then as far as they were concerned…that shit was illegal. Arguing with them about it, is actually what led me to read the whole thing myself.

Now, it’s the exact opposite. None of them seem to have any clue what’s in it, let alone what it’s supposed to mean. Mind you, this was back when FOX News was actually still a “news” network, and not just some propaganda wing of the Republican party, bent on brainwashing their viewers into ignoring reality. That didn’t happen until after 9/11, when they had to really fuck with the public narrative in order to keep Republican voters from going AWOL over the Bush administration lying about the Iraq war. That very nearly broke the party.

Lucky for them, Obama got elected, and they could just turn the dial straight over to the racism setting, and they all just shut their brains off, and got angry. Before you knew it they stopped being rational altogether. Now, they’re basically living in an alternate universe.

Not exactly. At least, not the same way it is today. It used to be far more moderate in the way it presented news, back when they first started out.

they got sued in the 80s for pushing misinformation. they literally argued that they were just entertainment and that any well informed person would recognize that and the supreme court ruled in their favor.

also re: the constitution, just because the republicans knew the rules didn’t mean they gave a shit about following them. don’t let them fool you today, either. they know them, they feign ignorance for their base. this has been a progression since lee atwater adopted the southern strategy in the 1960s in a reactionary response to lyndon b johnson signing the civil rights act

Wut? Man, FOX News didn’t exist in the 80’s. It was launched in 1996, a few months after MSNBC was created. And the court case(s) you’re talking about, all took place in the last 5 to 10 years. With hosts like Tucker Carlson and Rachel Maddow. I believe they both used that defense in court.

I think you need to do a bit more reading on US history. You seem to be a little confused.

The constitution is woke. It’s worth losing all rights and freedoms just to piss off the liberals

In their twisted minds, they think he’s somehow protecting the constitution. Someday he will publicly burn the constitution and his brainwashed followers will somehow think it’s the best way to protect what America stands for

    THAT’S FASCISM!

I was told this couldn’t happen in America. Well, why couldn’t it? What was supposed to stop it from happening in America? Where is the adult that was supposed to step in to protect America from a dictatorship? Out buying cigarettes and lottery tickets?

    Americans: please see:

American Constitution —> Amendments —> Line item 2

Second Amendment A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Better hurry, Trump is raping your rights, quickly.

That is an absolute last resort. You have no idea how many guns people have here. It will be a slaughter. These conservatives are violent, have no emotional regulation, and are trying to find any excuse to kill people. Liberal folks are going to die. …a lot. You will most likely not enjoy the outcome of this. The consequences are seeping into other countries. Soon most of the world will be cut off from everywhere else in terms of media. They don’t want us to have knowledge.

On the bright side, the headline doesn’t say he was joking. Media is finally starting to take this shit seriously
