YVR between Canadian airports is
- Easy to get to (by car and transit)
- Easy to drop off and pick up
- Easy to get around the terminal (No weird shuttle like YYC) with few satellite terminals (only 1 South terminal)
- Decent food options (I’d say only YUL competes), Japadog is great
- Rarely has huge lines ahead of security (YYZ is so bad for this)
- Has neat displays, a calm outdoor tree area, aquariums all around.
So yeah I think YVR is the best having gone through most big Canadian airports (haven’t gone through SK, MB, NWT airports and other Maritimes and NU airports are too small to count).
Agreed with all of the above, and especially the point about the interior. When we’ve had people come to visit, that’s the part we often hear positive comments about.
I haven’t had a chance to try the tree area yet since it’s been closed the times when I travelled through, but I already love the water areas.
The tree atrium area is tiny - especially the area that you can walk on - it’s probably like only the size of a small office room. YVR is only good when compared to North American airports, which is a low bar. Also, airport vending machines and shops price gouge compared asian international airports.
