I’m actually pretty convinced that the opposite is true. If Disney is bringing him back on the air, then they know they’ll be facing the wrath of trump, they’ve already come to terms with that. And they also know who Jimmy Kimmel is, they know that a late night comic in this position has to talk about the controversy and they have to double down. I’d put money on Kimmel poking fun at Trump and Kirk on his first day back.
And more to the point, Disney no longer has any leverage to stop Kimmel from saying whatever he wants. What are they going to do, re-cancel him? They’ll look like fools and fascists, and they’ll watch their profits drop once again. No, Kimmel has all the leverage here, Disney just wants this whole ordeal to be over.
Well it turns out as of this morning, nexstar who would show the jimmy kimmel show is pulling it and showing news during his hour. So only people who have streaming platforms and pay for it will see it, so a MUCH smaller audience than normal. So not sure what happens from here.
