Buttigieg reportedly added that he believes in “giving Americans more credit” in how they make voting decisions.
Pete Buttigieg is hopelessly optimistic if he believes that. There’s a demented fascist orange baboon in the White House proving without the shadow of a doubt that a critical majority of Americans are in fact fucking morons - be they the ones who voted for him, or the ones who didn’t bother to go vote.
I really like Pete Buttigieg. He’s got charisma, smarts, credentials, and the ability to show intellectual superiority in a way that is not condescending or patronizing. An increasingly undereducated country needs that.
That said, Harris was absolutely nobody’s choice for President, except Biden and herself. It was not a good time to add to the “force down our throat” feeling of that election, and conservatives seem to be triggered by anything LGBTQ+ existing as it being “forced down their throat.”
Never really had Waltz on the radar until he was nominated. It felt like an odd choice, but he did seem to relate to the electorate a lot more than she did. Honestly, I really don’t know how Biden’s formerly great political instincts abandoned him so completely in passing the torch.
Pete when it comes to standing up against the constant against anti-trans rhetoric from the right (Sauce)
For example, around sports, where I think most reasonable people would recognize that there are serious fairness issues if you just treat this as not mattering when a trans athlete wants to compete in women’s sports.
Pete when it comes to his own career options:

So which one is it? Do we play into the both-sides centrism BS and throw queer people under the bus when it’s electorally expedient or do we stand up for decency and human rights for all even if it might be a bit inconvenient?
