“The only asshole who’s actually doing anything still isn’t doing enough to make up for everyone who isn’t doing anything” is a weird way to blame the wrong country for global problems.

Paul Bledsoe, a former Clinton White House climate adviser now with American University in Washington, told the Guardian: “China’s new commitment is a good sign that their clean energy economy is beginning to help them lower emissions, but it’s not [moving] quickly enough.

Imagine the gall to have ostensibly been working on climate change 25 years ago, having less than nothing to show for it and then blaming China being too slow

Shocking: Mathematicians in the UK, a country that imports over half of its own carbon footprint, discover that 1/6 of global population is not capable of single-handedly compensating for the emissions of the remaining 5/6.

I just heard somewhere that the Chinese were producing and installing so much solar that they’re single handedly going to be responsible for avoiding the worst effects of climate change. Some how, that’s still not enough.

The Big Beautiful Bill is currently going to dump a bunch of money into coal. Just making the overall situation worse for no discernible benefit. Because fuck life, worship death, all hail death and the dollar

Not 5 year ago they were still on the “China is evilbad megapollutors! Worse than every Western country combined!”

Now that China is doing more for green energy than any other country on the planet, it’s “insufficient” according to rich westerners.

If only there was some other group of countries with massively inflated emissions that could follow a similar plan and help fix the problem they created, but alas, the only option is to blame China for not fixing the problem enough.

Hey, we’re doing everything we can here in the west! Me and the wife voted for [local green party]. We’ll be happy to switch to vegetarian food when the plant meat tastes exactly like meat. Happy to use less grid power when solar panels are cheap enough so I can heat/cool my giant MacMansion off grid. I’ll be the first to bike to the store when bicycles are self driving and have AC! If there’s a environmental solution to a problem that won’t inconvenience us or have us lower our material standard in the slightest, we’re happy to do it.

      What more do you want?!

We’ll get a chance again in four years! Little by little, decade by decade we can move the whole thing left. In the meantime I suggest investing in green technology. We recently bought a third Tesla. As a retired engineer I moved my 401k into a Thor Inc, it’s a ammunition producer that uses recycled aluminum for all their missiles. Other things you can do is getting involved in your community! Using my engineering skills (did I say I was a retired engineer) me and my 40 year old son build micro houses for the homeless/cats to live in. It’s all made from recycled materials. Corrugated plastic from old election yard sign as the main structure. For insulation we use unwashed (saves on water) styrofoam fish boxes from our boat club.

You gotta give back a little, that’s what I say.

Why are they acting as if China doesn’t have a much lower per capita carbon footprint than the US already? Are people really falling for this shit?

these fools need to consider how much carbon has been released by whom since the dawn of fossil fuels and also need to consider that they’ve exported their industries to China

What the fuck is the EU using all that energy on anyways? They don’t make barely anything there that requires high energy. Just wasting energy on lights and laptops. At least China has production of solar panels and common goods going on their coal-powered industrial lines. Fuckin Germany rollin coal to power their fleshlights and hackenkreuz-AI
