They got kicked from the Asian federation. But also FIFA federations don’t follow continental boundaries that closely anyway. Australia is in the Asian Federation, Turkey is also in UEFA, etc.
I mean Australia is basically in Asia, just no here likes to admit it.
Not like Australia is going to be in its own federation, with, like, New Zealand. No way should a world cup spot be reserved for that misery. And Turkey by way of Istanbul and the vestiges of the Ottoman empure kind of sort of makes sense
I’m not sure if you know and are sarcastically referring to it, but that’s why Australia is in the Asian federation, FIFA took away Oceania’s automatic World Cup qualification spot and they moved to the AFC instead.
