An AP investigation published this month revealed that U.S. technology companies to a large degree designed and built China’s surveillance state. Firms including IBM, Dell, and Cisco sold billions in technology to Chinese police and government agencies, despite repeated warnings that such tools were being used to quash dissent, persecute religious sects and target minorities.
So many damn headlines I’m reading today like “I’m just Juan Ghuy who does tech and foreign policy as a 5th and 6th hobby, right after jacking off to big tiddied anime girls; why the hell did I know about this decades before the press and american legislatures?” But of course the answer is that we all know that we all know, and instead of doing anything meaningful, these people just play off of whatever is in the news cycle that might help them get name recognition.
