    This is a complicated thing. They’re pushing to improve their tourism at the moment as it’s a promising source of income, but at the same time I had to wait three hours in a hospital just to get a shot when I got scratched by a cat. That was in Rabat, which is the richest city in the country by a margin.

      It’s actually not complicated at all.

      They need to tax their ruling class to pay for the hospitals. The money is there, but rulers would rather spend it on stadiums which will further their wealth.

      Pandering to tourists is just prioritizing foreigners over their own citizens because foreigners are making the ruling class richer.

      As soon as we stop being stupid and pretending that we’re on the same side as our rulers, things start to make a lot more sense.
