the rightoids wanted games without “wokeism” and didn’t want “alternate history” like a black samurai or assassin women
they screech about a relatively accurate historic game about fighting slavery and kkk
it’s like the mirror version of gamergate or something
THOSE UNWASHED NECKBEARD FUCKS I WOULD HAVE SO LOVED THIS FUCK THEM THOSE UNCULTURED TROGLODYTES THIS IS WHAT THEY TOOK FROM US THE WEST MUST FALL FASTER BILLIONS MUST THRIVE
The people complaining about cancel culture are gonna be weirdly quiet about this one
Maybe this explains why we haven’t got a new Wolfenstein game in a while.
waiting for the modern version where you have to shoot kirk in the neck
Spot on. Not a word about this from all the chuds and “enlightened centrist” reactionaries in the gaming community who always scream about every character not being an uber-masculine, white heterosexual male I bet. The irony of not having class consciousness.
That sounds cool as hell :(
I probably would’ve actually finally played this but alas the gamer reactionaries are really making waves. Are they truly the majority or is their powerful online presence really that much of a threat to games companies? Anyway, this is actually very worrisome…
I mean, it’s Ubishit. On the face of it, it sounds like a game that could have been better ideologically than most of what they have put out. But that fact alone makes it hard to believe it was ever far along as a project, or would have done the subject justice.
I don’t find it hard to believe this is real, but I am also skeptical on sourcing and the way the company can look as a result. The sourcing seems to go back to gamefile, who claims:
That’s according to interviews with five current and former Ubisoft employees who spoke to Game File on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak about the project. (Ubisoft did not respond to a request for comment for this story.)

I don’t know how reputable they are as a news outlet. I just know that this arguably makes Ubisoft look good to “both sides”. Rightists could go “good, Ubisoft bowed to our will.” Leftists could go “look at how based Ubisoft was trying to be, but the rightists ruined the chance.” It’s not a guarantee people will see it that way, but the possibility it’s a publicity stunt does not seem to be completely out of the question.
TL;DR: I’m not giving Ubisoft credit for a game they never actually materialized. If they tried to and caved, fuck em for caving. Capital has one primary way of behaving and that is self-preservation and advancement of its own power and influence. What this demonstrates is what some people were saying about the inclusiveness in media to begin with. That it was largely born of companies pandering, not of them actually giving a shit on an institutional level.
Worst of all is that we now have to pretend that this game would have been good
I mean c’mon
i’m not into buggysoft games, but the thing here is the irony
