Hardly.

This recognition of the struggle of all Venezuelans is a boost to conclude our task: to conquer Freedom.
We are on the threshold of victory and today, more than ever, we count on President Trump, the people of the United States, the peoples of Latin America, and the democratic nations of the world as our principal allies to achieve Freedom and democracy.
I dedicate this prize to the suffering people of Venezuela and to President Trump for his decisive support of our cause!
He may be personally hurt but as a president he serve usa’s imperialism and want Maduro out
It’s glorious that a deserving winner just happens to be Venezuelan and a woman, I hope his seething gives him a stroke.
I’m by no means a “tankie”, but it’s kind of funny seeing American liberals’ reactions to this, considering she’s conservative and not anti-USA. In fact:
Writing on X, Machado dedicated the prize to “the suffering people of Venezuela and to President Trump for his decisive support of our cause!”
I may have gone ahead and assumed the recipient was worthy without knowing anything about her…
I don’t blame you. Like djsoren19 says, it’s a situation where everyone sucks.
This is kinda one of those issues where everyone involved sucks. Maduro rigging an election and crushing protests is bad. Machado being a pro-US neolib who’s willing to turn the country into a U.S. puppet is bad. I know there’s also leftist groups that Maduro has been working tirelessly to stamp out, but this Peace Prize feels like it’s going to be turned into a mandate for Machado who will likely continue suppressing those leftists. and honestly, the committee in Norway sucks for not having the balls to piss off Trump and give it to someone working in the pro-Palestine movement.
Agreed 100%
What the fuck?? I thought Benjamin Netanyahu had this one in the bag?
She’s a rightwing fascist, and likely a western intelligence asset. The Nobel peace prize is a joke.
And don’t forget Aung San Suu Kyi, the winner in 1991 who went on to rubber-stamp the Rohingya genocide a year after taking national office in Myanmar in 2015.
Absolutely. And the folks raving about this being a Trump snub apparently aren’t aware she dedicated her win to Trump.
