Netflix is running experiments constantly. It's part of their DNA to test new things and A/B test variations to make their platform as well-engineered as
Why? Netflix stuff might suck, and it might not. It’s just like any other label. Removing the branding is a worthless and shitly move in the long run.
Netflix might be good or not, but that is up to the show.
Removing “Netflix Original” is a poor decision that means you do NOT believe in Netflix as a brand.
Lol, exactly. Netflix wanted people to think “Ooh, Netflix original, that’s gonna be great!” but instead they think “Oh dear, Netflix original. It’s gonna be slop that gets cancelled after one season.”
Plus, the “original” branding isn’t even restricted to titles Netflix produced. They also apply it to things they simply licensed but have exclusive licensing in the showing country. A lot of anime is in this category, effectively “pretending” it’s an original when it isn’t.
So the label at this point has become utterly meaningless.

I think the issue is that they consistently suck, so people now associate the term with slop. Then they actively avoid it.
