    Spooky november lanterns made from Mangelwurzels.

    Has been a thing where I come from long before I first heard of Halloween (and we then unfortunately collectively decided to switch to standard pumpkins instead…).

    Mangelwurzel-ghost-lanterns are scary as hell!

        No, centuries old traditions like that being lost is almost always unfortunate.

        And doing is hard nowadays, as the roots are not available in stores today (besides carving lanterns they have been only used to feed livestock during winter afaik).

        Only those pumpkins everywhere now…

        Streamlined variationless globalized culture instead. Kinda boring.
