I’ve been waiting so patiently all year, hoping the plant in my backyard was butterfly weed. It probably isn’t, but I found this little guy in my front yard a couple days ago!

      My phrasing was confusing. The big plant in the backyard that I wanted to be butterfly weed isn’t, but this little plant, in the front yard, is.

    Nice butterfly weed image. I actually also had my resident bunny eating my butterfly weed. Surprised they would eat, since it would likey be bitter tasting, if not toxic to them.

      Actually, butterfly weed (Asclepias tuberosa) has way less toxic compounds than other milkweeds, so rabbits can often munch on it without the same issues they’d have with common milkweed - that’s why yours is getting eaten!
