Quite a few libraries have officially dropped late fees altogether. They just want the book back.
AlligatorBlizzard@sh.itjust.worksto FediLore + Fedidrama@lemmy.ca•"Anti-AI trolls," transphobia, fun stuff82·6 days agoWeirdly this coincides with some drama on Reddit on r/trans, no time to do a rundown but the mods of both r/trans and r/AnarchyChess mentioned seeing an uptick in subscribers right before some of the r/trans mods decided to suck again.
Mark Waid’s run on FF was great, and I’d love to see a TV show with that kind of vibe, but I’m not hopeful Disney could do it well (cries in Matt Fraction Hawkeye fan)
AlligatorBlizzard@sh.itjust.worksto World News@lemmy.world•Voting age to be lowered to 16 in UK by next general electionEnglish6·8 days agoI was the weird kid who was more politically informed than the average adult, but I’d read the newspaper daily since about 12 or so. Maturity IDK but there are many adults that are less mature than I was.
How do I delete someone else’s comment?
Yeah but it’s not Nestle!
American chocolate is inferior in all ways but one - our Kit Kats aren’t Nestle.
AlligatorBlizzard@sh.itjust.worksto A Comm for Historymemes@lemmy.world•The struggle is realEnglish3·11 days agoI started a new job a few months ago. It’s more physically active than my last one, but several days a week we’ve got good donuts in the breakroom, and almost always have meh donuts. And lots of free cheesecake to take home.
… I’m just glad I haven’t gained weight.
AlligatorBlizzard@sh.itjust.worksto Mildly Interesting@lemmy.world•As US troops left Iraq, their combat gear went to police3·12 days agoIt wasn’t widespread, but I’ve been in gas stations in Florida that sold firearms.
I’ve had pet mice, they’re pretty neat too - the less timid ones can actually be trained to do tricks and some of them were trained to go back to their cage if they had to pee while out. They’re smarter than people give them credit for, they’re as smart as the dumbest rats they’re just a lot smaller so they’re more afraid of things.
Whereas the hamsters my friends had when I was a kid were basically all bitey assholes, but they were definitely poorly socialized.

My back hurts just reading this.

AlligatorBlizzard@sh.itjust.workstoPolitical Memes@lemmy.world•How we modify the weather5·16 days agoThat’s not going to help. Atrazine is the pollutant that’s allegedly “turning the freaking frogs gay” and instead of pushing for, you know, not polluting our drinking water, it was spun as a thing liberals were doing for the gay agenda rather than big ag not giving a shit about anything other than profits.

Because we don’t criminally prosecute our corrupt former leaders, we re-elect them.
AlligatorBlizzard@sh.itjust.worksto Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•What sort of grill needs a firmware update lol4·16 days agoHackers predate the Internet. Phone phreaking, like the Captain Crunch whistle is basically the origin of hacking and hacker culture.
But your larger point is valid and there was probably more than a little cocaine involved with thinking up that story.
I have an e-bike. I think it’s hilarious when I’m on the bike paths doing 20 mph and some MAMIL passes me. Her top speed is about 26 mph and yeah getting passed by a penny farthing would be even funnier.
