That’s a fair interpretation. I’m all for well managed immigration, but we went too hard, too fast on immigration and accepting international students. It’s not just housing, healthcare has reached the breaking point as well. We need to tap the brakes on these issues and SLAM the brakes on foreign investors hording Canadian properties. I know some processes to deal with all this have begun, but yeah, it’s going to be MANY years before we come out of this.

  • I’m a surgical RN in a small hospital. We run 5 to 7 ORs for scheduled surgeries 5 days a week (how many ORs running depends on how many nurses are available to work) ALL the specialities have to share precious OR time. They are: general, urology, plastics, gynecology, ENT, dental, neuro, ophthalmology, and orthopaedics. All of these patients need and deserve to be treated ASAP, but we don’t have the space or staff to keep up with increasing demand as our population grows older. Almost every day, TWO of our ORs are dedicated to orthopaedics alone. This means the other services only have access to the OR once a week, maybe twice if we are running at full capacity. We (Nurses Union) have been yelling at the Provincial Government for YEARS, warning them about this. We were either ignored or tutted at as if we were a bunch of hysterical women. 40% of RNs currently working will be eligible to retire in 5 years. If you think it’s bad now, just wait. Once we’re gone, everyone is screwed, including us. Little wonder why MAID is legal here.

  • I was banned 3 days for “hate speech” because I said the IDF was committing horrible crimes and killing children.

I was banned 7 days for violence (on a shit-posting sub) for saying Bonhomme should go to Washington DC and sort out 47. Bonhomme is the mascot of Québec Winter Carnival. He is a snowman. For context, the original shit-post had a “photo” of 47 gleefully eyeing a poster of Bonhomme. I did try to appeal this because…really? I was unable to even submit an appeal. I guess the US must be absolutely terrified of pretend snowmen from Québec.

I was permanently banned for violence because I spoke against 47 and his underlings calling for the annexation of Canada. The war-mongers are allowed to threaten their peaceful neighbour 🇨🇦 (and others) with economic ruin and invasion, but a citizen of 🇨🇦 isn’t permitted to speak against this threat?

I was a premium member but I had put a pause on the membership a couple months back when we began boycotting the US. I didn’t even try to appeal the perma-ban. I cancelled my membership/account and uninstalled the app.

  • I recently asked this as well. I have a line of credit/Visa through my bank and an AMEX card. No balance on AMEX, small balance on Visa.

At this moment, there doesn’t seem to be a true 100% Canadian credit card to compare/compete with the big US cards (ie Visa, MC, AMEX). Think of the HUGE amount of $$$ the US collects from us in interest/annual fees. Is this $$$ even considered in the “trade imbalance” between 🇨🇦 and 🇺🇲?

It’s pretty difficult for most of us to get by in the modern world without having access to a CC. I don’t know if you can even book a hotel room or rent a car without one. For online shopping, usually the only options for payment I’ve seen are CC or PAYPAL. There used to be an option for Interac but it doesn’t seem to be as common antmore. We could opt for no-fee cards and pay the balance off every month, but I know not everyone can afford to do that. Some are living hand to mouth and buying groceries with their CC.

It would be amazing if we 🇨🇦 had our own CC. I’d switch in a heartbeat.
