The moderator of this sub was at least active today, so they are not completely absent. However, with the amount of activity here and considering how absent they appear throughout the week (and nothing wrong with being busy IRL!) it would probably be a good idea to get in touch with them and see if we can appoint another mod or two to lighten the load.

Formula 1@lemmy.world•Was Perez Just Unlucky Or Out Of Form?English
2·2 years agoI think Perez looks a bit uncomfortable in the wet. Wasn’t it Canada quali as well where he just couldn’t find the grip and bailed on the dry tires to make his attempt on Inters when all the fast runners in Q2 were using softs?

1·2 years agoWe all know Norris is great but Piastri looks the real deal too. Exciting future for McLaren if they can build on this, especially with the new wind tunnel coming online soon.

6·2 years agoThis is starting to get embarrassing for Checo. I thought people were exaggerating how precarious his position was but if he keeps performing like this RB might actually be forced to take action.
Imagine if RB had an actual competitor, Checo couldn’t support Max at the front at all if he keeps going like this.

Formula 1@lemmy.world•McLarens Silverstone livery in daylight.English
0·2 years agoBrother you’ve been running a Chrome livery all season with all those logos.
Also I’m not a McLaren fan but imagine being one and getting teased with the words “chrome livery” and then seeing this garbage. I know they can’t just resurrect the Vodafone deal for one race but come on.
My first thought was AstroTurf too but honestly Lemmy is still small enough that I wonder if Meta even cares enough for it to pay for astroturfing here. They got more signups in a couple of hours than Lemmy got users in three years, and by several magnitudes even. Plus it’s an inherently hostile demographic for them. They’re better off investing in positive posting on Reddit, which I’m sure is what they’re already doing.

Games@lemmy.world•What are must-have games in the current Steam Sale?English
3·2 years agoIt’s a clusterfuck really, but yeah the lead writer, designer and artist were all fired and lost the rights to the IP. Litigation is still ongoing I think, and hopefully Kurvitz, Hindpere and Rostov can regain the right to at least produce more work in the IP in the future. Heartbreaking for Kurvitz especially since he’s built the IP with and for his friends from the age of 15.
It’s run through the Open Collective, and is also run by Ruud who runs one of the larger Mastodon instances as well as some other stuff on the Fediverse I believe. They’re a fairly trusted actor in the space and I think pretty transparent with everything they do which is probably another reason many people flocked there.

Football (migrated to football@sopuli.xyz) @lemmy.world•[Fabrizio Romano] Mason Mount, undergoing medical tests at Carrington right now as expected — then he will sign until June 2028 with an option until June 2029.English
0·2 years agoDo you know if you’ve finally employed a Data Analysis service of some kind or are you still lagging behind in that department?
I remember back when United signed Wan-Bissaka Woodward was bragging about how he was chosen from a shortlist of 804 options and StatsBomb Podcast I believe it was were amazed that he didn’t realize that it wasn’t actually a thing to brag about but actually indicated an incredibly wasteful and inefficient scouting setup.

0·2 years agoI’m not a United fan so correct me if I’m wrong but hasn’t that been a theme for ages for you? When was the last time you made your signings early in the window? Mourinho’s first summer with Zlatan et al maybe?

General Discussion@lemmy.world•We've grown an absolute shit ton of people the past day, insanely nuts to see how active World is.English
0·2 years agoOkay I was a chronic lurker on Reddit but seeing you here gives me hope for the Soccer community on this site, which has thus far been a huge gaping hole. I honestly haven’t used anything other than r/Soccer to keep up with football news in many years so I hope Lemmy can shoulder that burden sooner rather than later. It’s probably the one part of Reddit that I’m really struggling to replace and/or live without.

Formula 1@lemmy.world•Recommend your top 10 favorite races (but no Spoilers)English
0·2 years agoSuzuka 2005 is an all time classic so I would start there.
If you’ve managed to stay unspoiled about it, you could honestly just watch the entire 2012 season start to finish. Plenty of great races and many people hold it as their favorite ever season.

If you check the modlog the user bwoah@lemmy.world was moderator for 7 minutes two days ago. Not sure what’s going on with that.
c/Football also had a fairly inactive Admin but the community managed to get in touch with him and he appointed a second mod who has been much more active. That seems like the best way to go. And in general this place will probably be too large soon for a single mod anyway, especially considering F1 needs coverage across multiple time zones.
