Got diagnosed near the end of last year, well into adulthood. I have inattentive type (what was once called ADD). I’m on non-stimulany meds for it, which helps. But the thing about ADHD is that it’s mainly genetic and has to do with the structure of your brain. Its a holdover from when we were living on plains and spent most of our days eating berries and avoiding predators. There’s no real symptom relief, only management.

That said, the tools you learn for management while in therapy for it are amazing. And once you understand how your brain works, you gain a deeper and better understanding of how and why you do things. I know that seems like a “duh”, but in practice its a lot more profound and empowering than you think its going to be.

But ADHD has a lot of overlap with other things, so don’t be too sure until you see a professional. I wasn’t looking for an ADHD diagnosis when I got one - I thought I had depression. And I was miserable. Like, considering some unthinkable stuff. My diagnosis and treatment basically 180’d me completely. Find a good doctor, then listen to them

I don’t think this is proving the point that the people who say this want it to make. If you’re trying to champion what the movie is trying to be, then that’s one thing. (i.e. Marvel movies want to be fun, fast paced, action packed, and humorous)

But championing what a movie is not trying to be doesn’t really work. For example, saying that a movie isn’t trying have the traits that make a movie good (pacing, plot, framing, blocking, cut speed, color grading, etc), especially when all those elements are present simply by virtue of the medium.

That’s like saying a watch isn’t broken just because it doesn’t tell time. You can like a broken watch. It can be a fun fashion accessory. It can have a pleasing design or be comfortable on the wrist. But it still doesn’t tell time. And thats not a dig on those who like it, it’s just a true statement about the watch.

Using the word “refused” assigns negative intent to the kid. And maybe the kid did refuse(“I don’t like those toys”), but I find that unlikely it they started playing with them at daycare. Maybe there are toys at home they prefer. Maybe, as others have stated, its more of an environment thing. Most kids, even when they start to be conversational, lack the vocabulary to fully express themselves. They learn to say what they don’t like earlier than saying what they do like, and will often use black/white terminology even when the feeling is more nuanced.

As a (soon to be) dad who doesn’t want any more pets, it’s not cause I don’t like animals. I love animals… maybe too much, cause I just don’t know how many more I can bury.

Maybe I need to get a pet that will outlive me. Something cuddly with a lifespan of like 60-80 years

I suppose you’re right there - I was conflating Starring with Leading, which is different. He has a lot of starring roles, but only a few leading roles.

But its not like leading roles are the hallmarks of success, either. There are plenty of successful and iconic supporting/character actors out there who are absolutely successes and have raving fans. Its not a mark against his talent.

He was great in that as well. I didn’t include it because he wasn’t in the ads for the movie, and so “we” weren’t sold a seat based on his participation, but good callout.

Late reply, but man I wish I had that skill. People have given me tips and tricks, I’ve watched YouTube videos, people have coached me through it on the grill and in the kitchen - without a meat thermometer, I can’t cook poultry to dave my life. Its always either raw or bone dry. But, with the Meater… flawless every time

I mean… he’s had plenty of starring roles, and his acting has won him both awards and acclaim. Requiem for a Dream, Mr. Nobody, Dallas Buyers Club, House of Gucci, The Little Things - and that’s not including his clunkers. He’s still an in-demand actor with 30 years of work behind him. Not everyone makes a career that good in Hollywood.

Human beings are sexually dimorphic, but most of the advantages or disadvantages are negligible or can be overcome with training, so it makes little difference. It makes even less difference in middle and high school aged children, since everyone is at (somewhat) different points developmentally anyway.

I also received a Meater as a gift - but I use it for basically any meat that goes in the oven or gets grilled. And I’ve found myself putting more meats in the oven so I can use it.

Maybe it depends on your model(like it was poorly designed or something), but in general the soap compartment should deploy precisely when it needs to. But, hey, if it’s working for you then who am I to say otherwise

I am currently on the other side - my soap compartment broke, and so I have to throw the packet in the bottom of my washer. It works… okay. The problem is, most of the soap goes out with the pre-rinse. So I often have dishes that I have to re-wash by hand now, versus never having to do that before. I dream of the day where I fix my soap dispenser.
