Science has a huge shortcoming with desperate scientists wanting funding and making up just enough to keep it. The peer review process works when it’s something that actually gets properly peer reviewed, but there’s not much money in peer reviewing a claim that x molecule lowers your heart rate by 10%.
Science will be great if society ever got to the point of no longer needing money or barter. Which would happen due to science.

Obviously not something the Dude would do, but I might try this.
So if I’m walking towards my house after giving one a ride I can’t tell her to come on in?
The Dude is both chill, and poor. Not everyone has coffee liqueur and creamer money. He makes do with what’s around and he’s happy about it.

Dude. If you think green screens and CGI weren’t super easy to recognize back in the 80’s, you need to go watch some old movies that used it.
Also, yeah, Tron released 2 years earlier and had some CGI. There was even CGI way before Tron in movies. When I say there was no CGI, I’m saying there was no CGI that could fool even a 6 year old into thinking an animal was jumping off of a cliff.
As for the green screen thing… Bless your little soul.

You are right about latency not mattering for audio, at least. You can also compensate for the lag in video’s if if available. It isn’t on most streaming services, so the audio just stays a bit off. You can’t do anything about it in games, with a few quasi exceptions. Some headphones will have a “game mode” to lower the latency down so it isn’t as noticeable, but this is accomplished by lowering the bit rate even further. In other words it cuts the audio quality down so it has to send and read less data in order to convert it faster. Even with the crappier audio there’s still noticeable lag.

Plus the latency that even the best that Bluetooth has to offer, plus the fact that an aux port is virtually indestructible, and even if you managed to break it, you can still plug your phone in to charge or transfer data. USB C ports aren’t as hearty and if you mess it up with it being plugged in while walking around with it in your pocket, your phone is then kinda fucked.

There wasn’t any CGI in 1986 and the abusive and stressful situations they did to them was obviously real. But yes, it was Japan instead of China.
ColeSloth@discuss.tchncs.deto Today I Learned@lemmy.world•TIL Disney killed a bunch of puppies making "Snow Buddies" and weren't allowed to use the "no animals were harmed" claimEnglish1·4 days agoI checked. It was Japan and not China, but the relevancy is that the US in the 80’s wouldn’t have been allowed to throw a cat off a cliff or get ones pay bitten by a lobster or tossed in a river. Snopes not confirming anything is irrelevant, since there’s actual footage of this stuff happening. Do you have a stress free way of throwing a kitten off of a cliff?

It’s shitty; but it’s still total equality.
They will cut off electricity if you do something illegal with it…
