@elphez@mas.to Per the social media posts, some people have reported the Telegraph’s article to IPSO (the U.K.'s Independent Press Standards Organisation) as you can’t simply go around making up stories (or human beings)
@troy_frizzell@mstdn.social She does! We first heard about this story on Marina Hyde and Richard Osman’s excellent “The Rest is Entertainment” podcast, where Marina mentioned that Fuller both exists, and has written for the Telegraph after the story was pulled — so something fishy is going on!
Yes, it’s really telling the story from the cultural perspective though it does mention the acquisition.
@cameronbosch@fosstodon.org @Flipboard@flipboard.social We don’t work for Rolling Stone, but as far as we can see it was put together by four of their staffers! They say in the intro: “For this list, we looked at both how influential each game was at arrival, as well as whether it still holds up. A good game may have played well, but a great one still does. These are games that made the culture what it is today and will chart where it goes tomorrow.” Most of the people who voted in our poll of the top 4 (https://flipboard.social/@CultureDesk/113784153024666479) were firmly in the Tetris camp, with BOTW and Super Mario World tying on 18% of the vote and GTA V bringing up the rear.
@cameronbosch@fosstodon.org @Flipboard@flipboard.social Languishing at No. 19.
@marquisdegeek Imagine if it was some other St. Paul’s Cathedral — could there be a St. Paul’s Cathedral Pub in some grotty part of London?
We love you, fediverse! The winning vote in this poll on MSNBC’s rebrand vs. HBO’s was that they are both equally stupid — just a tiny shade ahead of “I absolutely don’t care.” @jimi@burnthis.town said that the new MS NOW name sounds like a new and worse version of Microsoft Teams, while @jsit@social.coop reminded us that the MSN part in MSNBC does indeed come from Microsoft. And @lffontenelle@mastodon.social had seen the news, but assumed it was a joke. Nope! We’re intrigued by @Variety’s investigation of what the future MS NOW URL will be: “The current website at “msnow.com” includes the text ‘Motorized Snow vehicles (SnowMobile)’ and says in Korean: ‘A snowmobile is a vehicle that travels on snow. Equipped with skis and tracked wheels, it is used for winter recreation and transportation. Also known as a motor sled or snow machine. In Korea, it is used for maintenance, rescue operations, and cargo transport at ski resorts and other locations.’” Well, there you go!
