  • Again you confuse cause and effect…

My friend. I am not confusing anything. However, you are very much confusing reality with fantasy and arguing as if that fantasy is real.

… term limits could have easily meant justices losing their seats during Bush and Trump bringing about the same effect or worse.

This is a hypothetical. You are arguing as if it is real. It is not. I could just as easily assume the opposite would be true. That term limits would have completely prevented this current situation of a 6-3 court. Because it unquestionably would have if the terms were short enough. So even if we were talking about theoreticals here, your outcome is much less likely and shouldn’t be assumed as true.

If we had gotten luckier or smarter with strategic resignation…

Again. Another hypothetical to explain a clear shortcoming with a lack of term limits. We weren’t lucky. At all.

Your comment is more an insight into how you are personally coping with what a lack of term limits have done to this country rather than a debate over their necessity.

I mean honestly, I think you are basically dillusional if you can’t agree that the current Supreme Court has corruption there for life - and the only fix to prevent that happening is term limits.

we could be talking about lifetime appointments keeping the judiciary independent from the president and protecting democracy.

Literally this has now been proven to not work with lifetime appointments. Cause and effect has lead us to lifetime appointed judges working towards the interest of themselves rather than the people. We live in an absolutley unquestionable reality where lifetime appointments to the judiciary have directly caused that judiciary to no longer be Independant from the President. They literally ruled for Trump to be King while Biden was still in office ffs.

If you want to talk about cause and effect, how about we start in reality - do you think term limits would fix the current SC?

  • Your position is like arguing that cigs don’t kill you because your presently already dying of liver cancer right now.

Nope. My position is quite literally that we should limit the amount of cigarettes we smoke so we don’t develop cancer.

    Maybe a pack a week?

Or a single 12 year term for each Supreme Court justice?

As proof I’ve simply pointed to how we have completely failed to limit terms in the Supreme Court and now very much have fascist cancer because of it. (Supreme Court going full MAGA and ignoring due process).

You are making this much harder to understand than it needs to be.

  • People who are politicians for life have incentives to not be corrupt since it can end their career.

No offense, this is an incredibly naive take that is easily disproven by the current US president and the decades of documented corruption he’s practiced in the open that did done nothing to falter his career. He has 34 felonies. He was going to trial for the largest breach of US intelligence in the history of our country.

He was then elected president anyway.

Social media has made the concept of political accountability into an impossibility. Any “career-ending” behavior can just be lied about on social media, turned into a firehouse of disinfo, then bots & supporters eat it up.

Without term limits, people just need to be popular enough to get elected once - then they can use their position for personal gain for as long as they can lie about it in some way. (Forever with AI now).

I could gesture in any direction in the world and end up pointing to a country this is happening to right now.

  • I’m sorry, but there was a court case about top secret documents in a bathroom that never went to trial in 4 fucking years. That would have stopped it.

If Bidens AG pushed that case with the urgency it deserved, we would not be in this shit show.

Every single one of Trumps immediate executive actions could have been tested by the Biden admin during his time to get the SC opinion on executive overreach before it was Trump doing the same.

Specifically, Biden, at any time, could have pushed the DOJ to make the toilet trial happen immediately. But instead, we have Trumps DOJ building concentration camps in 8 days and filling it with people who have no due process.

All it takes for evil to prevail is good men to stand by and do nothing.

This trail was 4 years of that.

It easily could have prevented all this. Instead it sat on a back burner and we were told it wasn’t worth watching as there was no way it would boil over.

You want to tell me that there’s no way the Dems could have looked at that pot in 4 years to prevent it from boiling over?

How about not taking years to look at it?

The Dems are either gullible or stupid for taking so long, neither of which is an excuse for letting that trial never happen considering the consequences would be the supercharged orange Shitler we now have as a leader.

  • I mean, it prevents people pursuing political positions as a permanent job. Which is how corruption happens.

It’s much easier to pay off a permanant term SC judge with a “gift” of a Bus than it is to approach a newly appointed one with the same idea.

Term limits unquestionably help in eliminating corruption as it guarantees corruption is not only harder to accomplish the first time, but is flushed away with the end of each term.

Corruption happens when people have their footing in politics long enough to tear at the seams. They can’t do that if they never find their footing.

  • RIP Xbox.

Did they bother looking at the history of console launches that were above $600?

You know, all those household names like 3DO, Jaguar, and CD-I, that prove how historically there is NOT a big audience for expensive consoles.

Good ol Playstation even learned their lesson with the PS3.

And now in the middle of a global recession, one where people are even turning on Nintendo for price increases - Xbox is releasing their most expensive console ever with no exclusives, and not a single reason to use this new “Xbox” because game pass is available on everything else.

I’m sorry. But whoever is left at Xbox needs to pull their head out of their ass and breath real air.

This move is out of the 90’s with crossbranding that smells of desperation. WHY would you call it so many names? WHY the ROG Xbox Ally? And not the Xbox Ally?

You really just had to slap the corporate partnership with ROG in the name of the product at the front like that? People smell that bullshit ten miles away now, as it basically the equivalent of putting corporate flowers on a devices grave. Like the Verizon Blackberry Storm, or the ATT Nokia NGage.

FFS “XBOX ALLY” is a great name! They could have even called it the “Xbox ALLY by ROG”

Now it’s going to be another “Xbone” situation because Microsoft can’t unincorporated their brain from making terrible decisions.

The ROG Xbox Ally is an overbranded ununique afterthought of a console designed to milk Xbox nostalgia from people that don’t have the budget or desire for an expensive portable PC.

I wish Vegas took odds over the potential failure of this console, because it’s almost certain how much of a failure this thing is going to be at launch.

Just my 2 cents. Haters better tell me how many of these they’re planning to buy at launch to scalp.

  • What incentive does a rich billionaire have for starting a business? Money? They have billions.

The only business they start are for themselves / the benefit of other businesses they own. Their wealth accumulates, and it is spent only to perpetuate its growth. It does not find its way into new businesses. It does not create new sector growth.

However, the people that want billions and don’t have it have a hell of an incentive to start a business and run it well.

  • Incredibly well said. And couldn’t agree more!

Especially after working as a game dev for Apple Arcade. We spent months proving to them their saving architecture was faulty and would lead to people losing their save file for each Apple Arcade game they play.

We were ignored, and then told it was a dev problem.

Cut to the launch of Arcade: every single game has several 1 star reviews about players losing their save files.

This cannot be fixed by devs as it’s an Apple problem, so devs have to figure out novel ways to prevent the issue from happening using their own time and resources.

1.5 years later, Apple finishes restructuring the entire backend of Arcade, fixing the problem. They tell all their devs to reimplement the saving architecture of their games to be compliant with Apples new backend or get booted from Arcade. This costs devs months of time to complete for literally zero return (Apple Arcade deals are upfront - little to no revenue is seen after launch).

Apple used their trillions of dollars to ignore a massive backend issue that affected every player and developer on Apple Arcade. They then forced every dev to make an update to their game at their own expense just to keep it listed on Arcade. All while directing user frustration over the issue towards developers instead of taking accountability for launching a faulty product.

Literally, these companies are run by sociopaths that have egos bigger than their paychecks. Issues like this are ignored as it’s easier to place the blame on someone down the line. People like your manager end up getting promoted to the top of an office heirachy of bullshit, and everything the company makes just gets worse until whatever corpse is left is sold for parts to whatever bigger dumb company hasn’t collapsed yet.

It’s really painful to watch, and even more painful to work with these idiots.

  • My dude, we are being sacked repeatedly by Trump right the fuck now. Usually to the benefit of foreign governments or his stateless billionaire friends.

2 Billy to kill Kashogi. Multiple Trump businesses getting government contracts. USAID and soft power sold for parts. A fucking gilded 747 from Jordan. A supreme court that takes “gifts”. Ukraine weapons going to Russia and Israel instead. And Medicaid just got dismantled for billionaire tax breaks.

Higher Education is unaffordable. Minimum wage hasn’t increased in two decades. Housing is unaffordable. Healthcare is unaffordable. And inflation and unemployment have been growing all year.

These things were exponentially less fucked just 20 years ago. Now abortion is illegal, and spending money is more protected as free speech than protesting. I’ve watched as we keep losing our rights to stateless hostile billionaires sacking them for profit.

Canada and Mexico won’t have anything left to sack at the rate we’re converting what remains of our freedoms into profitable suffering.

  • Yes. We are heading towards a crash. We are very much already in one, and have absolutley no way out.

Trump killed all US international commerce with his TACO tariffs and is currently propping up a failing stock market by converting medicaid dollars into ICE / TECH BRO MILITARY funding. The stock market keeps doing great because our tax dollars are propping up companies like Google, Plantir, and Amazon through government grants instead of providing us a safety net. That money will run out eventually, but likely not before more CEOs are killed over it.

Literally we are living through the gilded 1920’s again but with an American Hitler.

We now have years of uncontrolled inflation well above target rates, a corrupt government, wealth inequality worse than the French revolution, and rampant unintelligent Tariffs hurting all international trade at the cost of every small business in America. These are the same factors that caused the great depression, and if you think it’s not going to happen again, you are wrong.

We are a country being lead into disaster by the least competent people imaginable.

  • I’m not afraid from answering questions or engaging with hard concepts…

    You absolutley are.

You just redefine any hard concepts you encounter as rambling, then refuse to engage with it.

You even admit to this readily:

I’m not interested in responding to the rest of your rambling…

Conveniently, what you’ve labeled as rambling is all the comparative analysis and supporting studies I’ve provided that immediately prove what I’m saying as valid.

We very much could be having that conversation if you were willing to listen.

Instead, you’re trying to convince yourself this conversation isn’t reasonable unless we ignore everything I’ve said that you don’t like.

Here’s another question to prove my point:

    • Can you explain what parts of what I’m saying is rambling to you? (Specifically, direct examples of what I’ve said that comes across as “confused or incoherent.”)

I would very much like this list, as it’s the same list of hard concepts you keep running away from.
