  • Especially in the us? Definitely. Just in the US. I think it’s impacted everywhere. Things like the internet have seen to that. Just look at the situation when it comes to libertarianism. If one was to do a search for libertarianism. 99.9% of the information you turn up regardless of where you’re from. Will deal with the right wing larpers. You actually have to dig to find out much about Joseph dejacques or any other early libertarians.

I definitely think things are better over in europe. Having much more political diversity and better education. It’s harder to co-opt terms than it is here. But it’s still informs language choice these days to not be confused. Those on the left much more likely to be identified as Anarchist than libertarian. So as not to be associated with those right-wing ghouls much as communist often refrain from identifying his communist due to all the people who larped as Communists and all the crimes they’ve committed.

They aren’t disputing the information presented. Simply the context of associating it with an image of stalin. Sort of sane washing him. It’s definitely bad that the United States does this. But it’s also definitely bad that it keeps getting reposted in this sort of context as a propaganda tool.

Two things can be bad. Why couldn’t meme just ask what country does this? Then end with “the United states”. I’d argue it would be just as impactful. Without having to downplay the horrors of another group.

  • Sort of, yes. Basically don’t be a Sheldon. If you are capable of taking care of yourself or self-diagnosing. You are also capable of understanding and mitigating your behavior and triggers. As well as knowing when to apologize to neuro normies.

Going back to the reference to the show. Nearly all of the main characters on there could be seen as being on the Spectrum somewhere. Sheldon’s utter lack of self-awareness and treatment of others was a setup for jokes etc. It was infantalizing. That sort of thing in real life would stress even the best of friends. Neurodivergent or otherwise.

Diagnosis is about understanding. Understanding is the treatment. And understanding goes both ways. It’s a bridge between us and neuro normies.

  • Politics isn’t a 1 dimensional spectrum. Even 2 dimensions can still be inadequate. Though it is a much better fit. Suficed to say the X axis is generally going to be economic orientation. And the Y axis social orientation. Economic being socialist to capitalist. Social being authoritarian to libertarian. But even then, going to far along social spectrum one direction makes the distinction of capitalism or socialism moot. Authoritarians will use whatever gives them power. They aren’t specifically FOR either. The further you go towards libertarianism however, the less and less feasible something like capitalism gets.
