  • […] but somehow not advocating for murder = pro genocide to the asshats on lemmy

So the many users that have complaints about your moderation are asshats, you are right and everyone else is wrong. Gotcha. You really shouldn’t be modding on Lemmy if that’s your outlook. Mods who take feedback onboard in a constructive way are actually well liked by the communities they moderate. Maybe you should give it a try sometime?

    PTB yet again, unfortunately.

The folks here on Lemmy aren’t advocating for violence. They (and all of us) are suffering the effects of America’s violence on the world and are simply trying to resist that violence. The US has had an official policy of destabilising the Middle East for decades, as did the British before them. Countless lives have been lost due to that policy. Most recently the US has aided and abetted the genocide in Gaza with vast quantities of weapons shipments. And the US participated in the bombing of Iran based on nothing but vibes. The US is unarguably at this point a rogue state that has now not only turned on its allies, but also turned on its own citizens. If you aren’t at least thinking about violently resisting what the US government is up to at this stage, then I don’t know what’s wrong with you. I guess it’s lucky you live in a privileged white neighbourhood where non-whites were excluded, so all those ICE deportations and protests hopefully won’t inconvenience you too much this time around, like the BLM protests did. I’d hate for you to stop caring about the Palestinians because you got held up in traffic.

  • YDI. I get the hate for religion. But Iran is not the aggressor here. Israel is being run by a literal maniac, is currently carrying out a genocide against Palestinians - and yet you are here condemning another of its victims. There was no evidence Iran was building a nuclear bomb and there were plenty of diplomatic options on the table. It’s Iraq’s WMDs v2.0.

[…] taking aim at a nuclear program in a State that exports hate and has expansionist tendencies seems like a no brainer move anyone should do.

Would you also support a similar strike on America’s and Russia’s nuclear program then?

  • I don’t plan to stop so long as you’re all staying around to make lemmy interesting to me, so thanks for being part of the same community. I’m proud to call this my home and all of you my m@tes!

    I’ll drink to that!

I don’t have a lot more to contribute, since db0 did such a good job of summarizing everything. Just wanted to mention that I really enjoy being able to hang out in the community we have grown into. And also a big shoutout to the other admins, who are an exceptionally thoughtful, sincere and hard working bunch of people - it’s been a great pleasure getting to know y’all and thanks for donating your time and expertise to keep the ship afloat.

  • I guess you could also say something like, “her body type is atypical” to avoid confusion. From your other comments here it’s pretty clear that’s what you meant. And I agree with you that video game representations of women in particular are often problematic, as they are mostly unrealistic, highly sexualised, and created that way for the primary purpose of being objectified by men.

In this case I think CLM is the closest assessment, because I think it’s obvious to a native English speaker that it could be interpreted both ways, so it should have been clarified before mod action was taken.

  • It’s disturbing just how effective this campaign has been. I think part of the reason is that many admins just tend to go along with the consensus when these things are occurring, because it’s easier to take someone’s word for whats going on than actually look at all the details, especially when it’s been playing out over years now. We’ve all been guilty of this.

    But the fact is:

    • trolls exist
    • trolls can use a vpn
    • trolls can create an impersonation account and act like an insane arsehole
    • trolls can report that account as being an alt of universal monk

Multiply that a dozen times and you have a successful mud slinging campaign to get someone multi-instance banned.
