sorry I was agreeing with you, just adding a quote about how “binding” only works for what the law says should be bound

The law, in its majestic equality, forbids the rich and poor alike to sleep under bridges, to beg in the streets, and to steal bread.

you dont need to kill police or politicians, probably throwing your life away, to make a difference
I agree, I just want people to think it’s okay. If the two extremes are “kill all cops and politicians” and “kill all poor people and minorities,” then a equitable middle ground where we don’t kill anybody and tax billionaires out of existence and repress cops into being friendly servants is a good compromise.
I think lots of people saying “good, who cares” to the CEO assassination was good, and should be applied liberally.

I hope this goes well and is replicated across the nation, but then I remember that “do good for everyone” isn’t a common goal.

actually after looking at the rules, I’m surprised too. maybe the mods just saw the advice dog thumbnail and moved on
I think you’re both right, it’s easy to be the internet tough guy, but until the protests are out your door you should be making a praxis network. At least I think that’s what they mean about organized crime

Bluesky@lemmy.world•Another example of Color people gotta be Twice as Good to get Half as FarEnglish30·2 days agoI just don’t understand how to shake people out of apathy. By scores of metrics, America is doing terribly compared to other Western democracies, and the proof is ready and evident. But Americans just don’t care, “who is kamala harris” was trending on google on election day.
Then add all that on top of disinformed Americans that will fight to keep their chains.

While I understand privacy concerns (hello from Tor), I think having some kind of loose tie to a physical identity would be better than true anonymous, since that could easily be astroturfed by bots or feds. I think that kind of organization is important, especially for protests, but I’m talking about wider organization in general.
With your concerns, how would you suggest getting people engaged? Something like a mastodon account that just posts dates and locations and takes feedback assuming its in good faith? Matrix chatrooms? Honestly asking, how would you get people together? I’m very interested in converting upvotes into praxis, despite the terrible exchange value.
The concepts are good, but in a system perverted from justice, you cannot trust the laws to be enforced correctly or legislated properly. Like how copyright has been perverted into virtually nothing entering the public domain for a couple generations thanks to Disney.
