Both have/had their issues with cheaters. I personally have a bad experience with chess.com’s costumer support (paid for but didn’t receive the membership). So when I want to play online casually lichess is my first choice. You can use both at the same time and see how they differ when it comes to puzzles, ratings, and all the extra content.

Articles (or headlines) like this are nothing more than “China bad” clickbait.
It’s one of the reasons I left reddit/FB/Twitter etc., and it’s something that’s been popping up on Lemmy gradually last couple of years. Critical thinking is an afterthought.

2·7 days agoYou’re correct about what I meant. I blocked the other person in this conversation because honestly I have more on my mind than engaging with something that sounded like bad faith. I agree wholeheartedly with you about anything you say about CF. They’re trying to ruin the last bit of internet I enjoy simply because I’m in a country they don’t like. Thanks for fighting the good fight!
1·5 days agoThai floods? Other than Thailand being mentioned in the subtitle, I wonder why they are called Thai floods. The Reuters (credited) articles don’t mention Thailand either.
Edit: Seems like they have edited the title and subtitle and removed the mention of Thailand. I mean, Thailand have their own floods, too, so I was wondering how they were related.

6·14 days agoAs a kid in the early 90s I taped tons of horror movies from TV to VHS, so I was kind of used to the scary stuff. In 1999 I had just turned 16 and was finally allowed into the cinema to watch horror (16+). I’m from a small town without a cinema, so me and a friend took the train to the big city.
We knew nothing about The Blair Witch Project other than from the posters. It was surreal walking out of that movie, back into a bustling city where no one had any idea of what we had witnessed. That movie felt so damn real. No other visit to the cinema has been able to live up to that.
