  • Thanks. Glad someone typed this so I didn’t have to.

In addition to what you said. Most “aid” organizations, especially when it comes to those with a billionaires name attached to it are used strategically by corporations to flood local markets with the crops or resources the country would need to sustain itself independently.

Meaning, they flood the local markets with rice for example, so that no local farmers can reasonably make any money growing it. This forces the local farmers to grow the most profitable crop that the corporations can best exploit for profit. Sugarcane, Bananas, whatever is a very climate dependent crop usually.

Those who come with wheat, millet, corn or milk, they are not helping us. Those who really want to help us can give us ploughs, tractors, fertilizers, insecticides, watering cans, drills and dams. That is how we would define food aid.

    -Thomas Sankara (Pan-Africanist revolutionary)

This is the “soft power” of imperialism. It is about forcing dependence in under developed countries to keep them from becoming self sustainable.

Allowing billionaires to decide who gets aid and what they get is a fundamental part of imperialism and capitalist exploitation.

Billionaires are parasites. If they wanted to help people they’d jump infront of a bus.

  • I’m part of a Karen Facebook group that’s in my neighborhood. Joined because I saw their annoying signs in yards about “don’t allow 5 story housing here”.

It’s basically what you’d expect. A bunch of racist white people that don’t want their property value going down while they live in their single family home with no children.

Recently the title of one of their emails was along the lines of.

UPDATE: City wants to charge single family homes MORE property tax. And they still can’t provide good water pressure to the top of the hill!

It’s like. Dude. Your complaint is explaining itself. Single family homes are a massive loss to city infrastructure. Maybe if you let that 3-5 story unit be built up the hill they’d have enough tax revenue to improve the water infrastructure.

They are always always shooting themselves in the foot with every argument they make. It’s why I joined the group. It’s very entertaining.

  • Best thing I’ve done for it is to use a single blade (safety razor) and shave exclusively in the shower. The steam opens your pours and helps reduce irritation.

Also, shaving “with” the grain. Which is easier said then done since it kinda goes every direction.

But the biggest difference has been shaving in the shower. My skin goes crazy otherwise.

I have a full beard so I avoid shaving most of it. I’m so hairy that I have to shave most of my neck and my upper cheeks though otherwise I’d look like a Yeti. Seriously, some hairs are nearly to my eyes.

My genes are apparently just pure European (almost a flat mix from Ireland to Ukraine). But my hair is extremely curly even on my head. My friends use to say I had a “jew-fro” but I’m not Jewish from what a DNA test said.

  • Yeah. The expensive hardware raid setups are just too much money and too much work. I like the dual parity and variable drive size unRAID uses. Don’t have to worry about drive size differences.

You don’t get increased write speeds like some raid setups would have. But a cache drive and a scheduled mover make it even faster. I setup a 10G direct connection from my NAS to my main computer and it’s awesome for video editing.

I could see why you’d use a hardware raid if you have like 20 users or something all writing video. But I’m never going to fill a 2TB cache drive in a single day before it can move them to the array while I sleep.

  • Personal local NAS (Network attached storage).

Or install Tailscale on your home computer if it’s always on.

I’m a Linux nerd but I use Tailscale just because of how incredibly easy, secure, and reliable it is. And it’s free obviously.

Can access your files anywhere from basically any device. It essentially just lets you have access securely to any of your devices as if they were sitting on the same home network.

I got rid of cloud storage and just run a NAS with unRAID (paid but not a subscription. But worth every penny imo) There are alternatives that are free though.
