I’m an introvert though so I’m okay just being on my own.
They had surgery was my guess at least
So Gorons are Dwarves confirmed.
asks for help starting with new tech stuff for the first time
Comment that tells them to not use a GUI has 20 upvotes so far
This is why it won’t be the year of Linux anytime soon. Basically sending someone new straight into the deep end.
Agreed.
I’ve been using Linux for years.
I’ve done minor coding.
I’ve even installed Adguard and a VPN on a router.
Built my own water cooled PC.
I still don’t quite understand what Docker is or does, or containerized stuff. I’ve avoided most networking stuff since XP, and it’s basically a completely other field of tech as far as I’m concerned, like Math is to Physics.
The problem isn’t that a Democrat is “standing up” to Trump via the usual “words not actions”, it’s that it’s Newsom, who has also heavily courted prominent far right figures before as well. He doesn’t believe in what he says, he just cares about power as well, and based off his recent actions, he’d likely do nothing to reign in the right wing significantly, let alone prevent anywhere dictator wannabe like Trump down the line.
It’d be like cheering on Franco criticizing Hitler, for a more well known but hyperbolic example.
But yeah, last point is true - the US government is so broken it’d be better for the world for it to either balkanize or restructure entirely to a completely new system.

Lumisal@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•I need a healthy alternative to egg and bacon(nitrates) sandwiches. whats your daily lunch?2·2 days agoWell, it adds taste, depending on the person.
And specifically if you’re a pregnant woman, it’s a very rich source of folic acid.
Lumisal@lemmy.worldto You Should Know@lemmy.world•YSK 4get is a privacy respecting proxy search engine that can be self hosted3·2 days agoThis person sounds like a hop skip away from fellating Trump and Putin (but in a “nohomo” way), so I wouldn’t trust this project in the short or long term.
They want to eventually make an “unbiased” index, n which case if that were the case, I’d just search for things using Fox News or Russian Times. Maybe Truth Social too. They have tough competition.
Lumisal@lemmy.worldto World News@lemmy.world•Australian ban on fish-shaped plastic soy sauce dispensers a world firstEnglish18·2 days agoI thought it would have been very relevant.
It looks like a fish lure.
If this is floating around at sea I don’t see why other fish (and maybe certain sea birds?) wouldn’t think it’s prey, and it even has a bright red indicator that makes it easy to spot.
Lumisal@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.zip•Bluesky now platform of choice for science communityEnglish8·4 days agoI just noticed something about the upside down dead Twitter logo and now I can’t unsee it.
It looks like the head of an edgy Sonic OC:
Yeah, maybe then he should release the Epstein Files to show all the stuff Biden did. You know, the files that were already on Pam Bondi’s desk.
The point of the meme, is to show nature sucks. The point in this case is the crazy morphological changes animals in general (which includes humans) can go through via an extreme example of the caterpillar, not to equate a person to a caterpillar. It was poking a little fun at the fascination you and assumably many other men (and even some women) have at the changes women go through for pregnancy despite knowing about the extreme changes a caterpillar goes through usually during elementary school. Knowing that, it shouldn’t be surprising that anything could go through drastic changes for the sake of reproduction. Just because it’s an insect does not mean it’s not complex. It’s probably a good time to mention a tomato has more genes than a human.
But now you’re starting to turn it into not only a suffering contest, but a human superiority contest: Hyenas have cognition too and they basically give birth through a penis, along with basically having second puberty for the females. Elephants are extremely cognizant and have to go through extremely long pregnancies, on top of humans also nearly making them go extinct because of something stupid like ivory.
And since you want to make it a suffering competition, the animals win because humanity has screwed them over so badly many are going extinct on a mass scale, including the cognizant ones going through pregnancy themselves.
Instead of just making pointless suffering games on what is meme post where you can expect jokes based off the memes to occur, you can instead at least link to organizations that help women (and in my case, animals as well).
Wait till you hear about caterpillars.
Evolution is one hell of a drug
I do mainly use Linux.
I only have a small window installation for a few games that don’t run properly on Linux, and previously, Aquasuite since I couldn’t control the hardware with Linux. That’s why I was asking for the info.
I’ll try Cooler Control, thanks
Lumisal@lemmy.worldto Android@lemmy.world•Google will require developer verification to install Android apps, including sideloadingEnglish17·8 days agoSaw this comment on Ars and it’s a good point:
This isn’t about apps. It’s about control - the Feds want to be sure that they can track who is creating apps so they can control the spread of government-disapproved apps. Like the app that someone created last month to track ICE raids. If you control who distributes apps, you can further control what apps are made, and whether those apps are seen as a threat.
Information control in a dictatorship is extremely important.
I know the smell you mean.
I think I remember reading it’s produced by some kind of bacteria, similar to petrichor. They’d why it’s strongest in autumn and spring - the wettest seasons that also have cooler temps.
It smells similar to mountain jungle, just more fresh and less sweet, and I remember that same book saying that different wet regions have different distinctive smells because of the soil bacteria.
This was about 20 years ago, so I don’t remember the title of the book at all, but maybe searching for that can help.
It could be, if it is soil bacteria, they hang out more around birch than other trees.
If this is the case though, it would probably take a couple years of planting many to get the smell near your house strongly, though I imagine using forest soil near birch would help speed up the process.
You could probably also test if this is the source by disturbing some forest soil with a shovel to see if it momentarily intensifies, maybe 🤔
