Definitely feel this too. My kid once told me “you like being angry at me” when we denied snacks and caused us to have to reasess how we were communicating. Its a very hard cycle to break and will not happen naturally.
Thanks for the book rec as well!

US thinks it should get to limit each nation’s cumulative computing powerEnglish221·6 months agoBidens fat poops are for imperial citizens ONLY. Sorry China you gotta find the right gut microbiome and manufacture it yourself if you want in on the secret sauce.

I remember nothing else about this game other than the permanent ear damage I suffered.

Melonius [he/him]@hexbear.netto news@hexbear.net•Bulletins and News Discussion from December 23rd to December 29th, 2024 - The War on Christmas: Hypersonic HolidaysEnglish20·7 months agoIts been baking for decades but it will be the primary focus of the next financial crisis.
Many of these defaults have involved so-called distressed loan exchanges. In such deals, loan terms are changed and maturities extended as a way of enabling a borrower to avoid bankruptcy, but investors are paid back less.
These distressed exchanges operate in a legal grey area and intentionally favor larger lenders. Smaller lenders will be exchanged in to new loans with haircuts and no collateral while the majority lenders get new secured debt. As defaults rise this will continue to contribute to more centralization and accumulation by the largest firms. Typical infighting among the clergy in their religious institutions.
Lil conspiracy brain for me but liberalism relies on pushing the end of history narrative. Convince people that what’s happening now is part of the normal operating time loop so they can go back to brunch is a much more effective way for them to defuse this than rehashing the “do you condemn hamas” garbage

This pissed me off so much. I couldn’t uninstall something so I figured I’d just delete the folder. “Access denied” from my own harddrive. Leave it to the OS developers to make the most effective malware

Melonius [he/him]@hexbear.netto news@hexbear.net•Bulletins and News Discussion from November 18th to November 24th, 2024 - Could It Soon Be Azover? - COTW: UkraineEnglish16·8 months agoso here the Federal Reserve can sell government-backed securities (US treasuries) at a specific rate (say 2%) to set the minimum price of borrowing
It’s my understanding that treasury rates are set at auction, so these rates can be driven by demand (and not just internally as bidding is done by outside governments). The easier way to affect interbank lending is through interest on excess reserves - https://www.federalreserve.gov/monetarypolicy/reserve-balances.htm
This very transparently sets a floor while discount window rates sets the cap on interbank lending, and of course feeds back in to the treasury auction results as banks will allocate excess reserves to treasuries if they are paying substantially more than the interbank/fed IOER rates

This is a no-go for me. I was planning to buy some low level Chinese officials and have them promoted through the ranks over the next 20-30 years until I control all of China but the tariffs make the investment impossible for me to justify to my shareholders at the next hourly earnings call.
