  • Probably because it works well, and has working clients on everything at this point. For some, a one-time fee was worth it when it was cheaper.

Sharing is also easier, as your friends just sign up to a plex account and you share your library with them. No need to send them an ip address and port, or fqdn that you have to maintain if your isp changes your ip address. It has its benefits, tbh, and the core sharing features still work for streaming. All the extra crap you can just turn off.

That why I think its still popular.

I’m playing it right now, and ots actually a lot of fun. Exploration feels fun still like doom 2016 and Eternal, and you have different murder mechanics to choose from in the midst of a hundred enemies. I’d say the reviews are right.

Now, that being said, I think i still like 2016 better, but they both have a very different feel from each other.

COD is pretty much just a huge confusing user interface with a bit of a game attached to it, released yearly. They for some reason force all assets for their online game to be installed if you install any cod game. It’s ridiculous.

  • Here’s a link directly from plex website.

    Specifically, this bolded section:

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR CURRENT PLEX PASS HOLDERS:
For users who have an active Plex Pass subscription, remote playback will continue to be available to you without interruption from any Plex Media Server, after these changes go into effect. When running your own Plex Media Server as a subscriber, other users to whom you have granted access can also stream from the server (whether local or remote), without ANY additional charge—not even a mobile activation fee.

  • Not quite. Only if users want to stream from a server that doesn’t have a plex pass, in which case the user needs a plex watch pass.

If you (the server owner) have a plex pass, all users (even free accounts) can stream from you without a pass.

If you (the server owner) do not have a plex pass, then the users need a plex watch pass to stream from you.

Essentially, they’re making sure one side or the other has paid, but free to free is being stopped.

Local stream isn’t affected by this either, only remote streaming. As someone who has had plexpass for 12 plus years, it doesn’t affect me or my users.
