LETSSS GOOO!English4·4 个月前After a quick look through it, so far it looks mostly like jokes dunking on conservatives. Not the “jokes” crypto fascists are all about, aka saying something horrific and then saying jk jk afterwards.

Rawdogthatexe@sh.itjust.worksto Buy European@feddit.uk•Not completely convinced by the format, but worth a tryEnglish5·4 个月前Local will just show content from the instance you’re logged into. In your case it’s lemmy.world. All means content from world and instances federated with world. All is everything, but all of lemmy is still tiny compared to reddit so it just doesn’t move that fast. I usually sort by active and that keeps things fresh. “Active last x hours” also works nicely.

I sort of feel that way. I don’t think I’m losing skill so much as not wanting to spend more than 3 minutes thinking about a problem.
Unless your partner in crime is a SKANK!
Rawdogthatexe@sh.itjust.worksto Reddit@lemmy.world•Reddit CEO signals subreddits requiring a subscription fee coming this yearEnglish1·5 个月前That would probably depend on the instance creators. Donations are paying the way so far, but maybe someone will test out an instance with a registration fee or something. I don’t see that working out unless every other instance is in dire straits and super unstable because they’re running out of money.
Rawdogthatexe@sh.itjust.worksto Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•The internet is bad ux, everybody. There's too many choices.English6·5 个月前We’ll need a critical mass of well distributed nerds to make this happen.
Rawdogthatexe@sh.itjust.worksto Fediverse@lemmy.world•Bad UX is keeping the majority of people away from LemmyEnglish2·5 个月前This is why I like SomethingAwful forums too. Open since 1999 and an account costs $10. Just a little barrier to entry keeps out the worst people and trolls help fund the site by reregistering!
Are they the only porn instance? I am surprised at little porn I see on here and when I do it’s all lemmynsfw.
Rawdogthatexe@sh.itjust.worksto Fediverse memes@feddit.uk•The Day Will Come When The First Exodus Will Look Like Child's PlayEnglish2·5 个月前I mostly use desktop to browse and have been using the default shitjustworks site, but someone posted phtn.app above and it looks pretty nice. Discuss.online also looks just like old reddit. Looks like phtn.app works with any instance login.
It’s not an alternate way to view Youtube, it’s a totally separate service. You’re not missing anything, if no one’s using it to post content, then there’s no content. Youtube is a tough one to compete with because the infrastructure needed to host that much data and distribute it is insane. Peertube is super niche and not many know about it, but I do wonder how fast scaling would become a problem if it suddenly got an influx of new users.
I also like how Lemmy has the “modlog” at the bottom. If conservatives are being treated “unfairly” you can see what got them banned and decide if the mods are being fair.
Rawdogthatexe@sh.itjust.worksto memes@lemmy.world•Where's everyone going? We are right here!English1·6 个月前How does that work here anyway? Is there a FAQ or something to explain? Do downvoted comments get hidden or pushed down?
Rawdogthatexe@sh.itjust.worksto memes@lemmy.world•Where's everyone going? We are right here!English5·6 个月前But it’s not usually the people running the platform doing that. You can also find instances that go full on 4chan style freeze peach and only delete explicitly illegal stuff, but most of those are probably defederated from the big instances by now.
