I think it’s because both are happening, they’re just coming from different sources. The authoritarian goals are managed by the oligarchs and channeled through the (easily manipulated) narcissist in Chief, while the petty vindictiveness stems directly from him.

This lists 92°f last month, but it’s likely only for this location and not the entire state. It’s generally very temperate, with Honolulu averaging 75°-85°f all year. Looks like there are some spots that average a little higher, but the state as a whole has only a single instance of recording 100°f in 1931. But on the other end, the tops of some of the mountains are high enough they get regular snowfall every year, with the lowest ever recorded being 12°f.

Then why are we still having to manage 80-20?

I didn’t understand why we didn’t set the expectation years ago of phones ignoring the top and bottom 20%. Change it so 80 is the new 100, 20 is the new 0, and then play up the longevity factor and some marketing bs around “we squeeze every last drop out of the last 5%” (ie letting the phone go to 18% or something).
