Some have longer support than others. Also you can buy separate parts for their phones and they are modular.
Trihilis@ani.socialto Privacy@lemmy.dbzer0.com•Meta calls €200M pay-or-consent fine 'unlawful'English1·4 days agoThe thing is. By Banning it you make it a lot harder for people to use it. Soms might start using VPNs sure, or even TOR. But most people don’t even know what that is or don’t care enough tongo through so much hassle.
Most people are already fed up with META but are just too lazy to switch, this will give them the final push. And privacy is never a reason to use meta. The entire reason they are being fined so much is because continuously break privacy laws and make privacy worse for everyone.
Trihilis@ani.socialto Privacy@lemmy.dbzer0.com•Meta calls €200M pay-or-consent fine 'unlawful'English4·4 days agoOr just, you know. Ban every meta product in the EU. That would be so wonderful. It would force people to stop using that shit and the world would be a better place. I see this as an absolute win.

Every platform that is driven by profit will eventually turn to enshittification just like reddit is doing right now. Its inevitable. I’d rather set my focus on something like Lemmy or piefed which isn’t profit driven and can be forked.

Trihilis@ani.socialto Steam Deck@sopuli.xyz•Youtuber PewDiePie is going all in on deGoogling and the Steam Deck is one of the surprising tools that's helping him to 'escape'English36·8 days agoI know it seems kinda ironic. But the way to reach lots of people is to post on YouTube. If you want to reach people and stop them from using google you’re not going to reach them on some obscure platform that no one uses.
And the people using those obscure platforms have already degoogled so your basically preaching to the choir if you use them.
First thing that went through my mind lol

Fair enough then. I agree there is no excuse to still use X
Doesnt calyxos also work on fairphone

YouTube which is also owned by a fascist company. Deezer which is shit. Apple which is another fascist company that supports trump. Tidal which has also had its fair share of controversy ( not paying artists), shit ui etc.
And if you mention the fediverse people will look at you like you speak an alien language.

Can someone explain to me if openai is “open source” as it suggests? If so can’t you just see the source code in case they try to ruin it?
I guess an AI can never be truly open in a way? I know this is probably a red flag but I know that a lot of Linux distros which are completely open source are government funded too.

Voting for a party just because you want others to suffer more than you do is pure selfishness too.

Trihilis@ani.socialto Steam Deck@sopuli.xyz•Is the Steam Deck getting outdated soon? Should I wait for the next gen?English5·14 days agoHere is my opinion. I absolutely love playing oblivion on my gaming laptop with RTX4080. It looks gorgeous and so do a lot of games.
That said, I’d rather play on the deck with somewhat less graphics and chill on the couch after a long day of work. I just love the portability. Performance is okay for most games (it even plays oblivion okayish with reasonable graphics). A lot of games are optimized pretty well for it.
I just see it as an open source switch you can do and play anything you like on. I have tried windows on it too but personally it has no benefit for me so I use steamOS.
Games I play on it: Oblivion remastered Borderlands 3 Risk of Rain 2 Elden Ring GTA V
I also stream from my PlayStation 5 to my deck with chiaki4deck.
Trihilis@ani.socialto Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•98 degrees upstairs, ac stopped working at 8am.English16·14 days agoDon’t buy an electrolytic capacitor as back up and store then over a long time. They will degrade and will be bad when you finally need them.
MKP/MKT capacitors are an exception since they don’t degrade the same.
Trihilis@ani.socialto Technology@lemmy.world•Fairphone announces the €599 Fairphone 6, with a 6.31" 120Hz LTPO OLED display, a Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chip, and enhanced modularity with 12 swappable partsEnglish1·14 days agoWhat about people who already have a BT headset, or people who are looking to buy their first headset and don’t own one yet? You just straight up assume everyone still had a headset with wires lying around and that they somehow never break.
Having to buy something makes it bad isn’t really an argument. The very post you are making right now is made from a devide that has been manufactured at some point in time. If you start reasoning like that its better to start living in the woods with no possessions at all.
I thought we were at 256D chess now.
