The way the ships are built was drastically changed in the last decade because of the big lawsuits that Carnival got smacked within 2016 and 2019. Third spaces were much more common before the 2000s. Coffee shops where you could hang out with friends were actually a thing in the 90s. Open mic nights and karaoke. As someone who worked in a movie theater for four years, popcorn/candy is really not that big of a deal. Even in the biggest disasters (usually kids movies) you just break out the push broom and just walk down each row while someone else sweeps up at the aisles.
