Not trying to make Tidal anything, but if I’m going to link to a playlist I might as well say the name. Where do you listen to your music?

anticonnor@lemmy.worldOPto networking@sh.itjust.works•WiFi router vs wired router + WiFi access point?English2·5 days agoThanks for the recommendations! I pulled the trigger and ordered the following:
- TP-Link ER605v2 wired router (I’ll flash this with OpenWRT)
- Cudy AC1200 wifi access point
- Netgear GS305P unmanaged switch with POE
anticonnor@lemmy.worldOPto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•feedback on my next steps for self hostingEnglish2·1 month agoYeah, I was also starting to lean toward putting NextCloud on the OPi. There’s just not much happening on my OPi and I was only hesitating from trying that because I didn’t think the OPi could handle it, but it’s worth trying.

- I may not have labeled that accurately, I just plan to use Tailscale to access these services from specific authorized devices.
- I meant “before I do something that is a pain to correct”. Like starting with the wrong OS or file system format.
- My plan is to build a media server which will include 4k media, so I think my storage may need to grow over time… maybe TrueNAS is something I can add later if needed?
- I guess the reason I was thinking of 2 separate machines is that I’ve heard using an OPi as a media server or NextCloud server will go really slow and potentially cause other issues. Plus I already have an old computer doing nothing right now, just needs new SSDs.

I just wanted to mention that the Transformers artist, Daniel Warren Johnson, does a really fun and soothing live drawing session every Friday. https://youtube.com/@danielwarrenjohnson1
I’ll probably go this route, thanks!
Oh, those look nice! Looks like they’re sold out at the official retailer sites though. Bummer.

I usually don’t like getting crazy with fonts and colors, but thought I’d give it a try here. I also almost always have a dark mode extension on in my browser which totally changes the look of the sheet, and I sometimes forget what the actual colors are.

Thanks for the suggestions! I know what you mean about the commitment to the Big Brother/Sister program. It’s something I’ve thought about doing in the past, but never considered myself as great with kids and was a bit intimidated by the idea. It’s probably about time I get over that nonsense and take the plunge.

I’m also hoping to get a chance to play some Pathfinder 2e and maybe run a Delta Green game. Would love to play Mothership at some point. Hope you all have a great new year of gaming!

anticonnor@lemmy.worldto Linux and Tech News@lemmy.linuxuserspace.show•Mozilla partners with Ecosia for a better webEnglish2·7 months agoI’m generally pretty skeptical of companies touting tree planting campaigns as it’s often just greenwashing, but I’ll give this a shot. So far, the search results aren’t any worse than other Google alternatives.
Could you expand on that? If I were looking for federated platforms that get a lot of activity from artists posting their work, what would you recommend?
anticonnor@lemmy.worldto Cosmic Horror@lemm.ee•The 16 Best Cosmic Horror Movies To Fill You With Existential Dread2·9 months agoHey, another Dagon fan! I think the movie would’ve been much better with a different lead actor, but still a fun film with some pretty grotesque scenes.
I regularly quote: “I was BORN on that TABLE!” And “Straight out of my BODY and onto your PLATE!”
anticonnor@lemmy.worldto Climate - truthful information about climate, related activism and politics.@slrpnk.net•Sources of California greenhouse gas emissions71·11 months agoYeah, this report is designed with a transportation agenda in mind, so the graph only shows a select set of emission sources to make the tailpipe emissions look as bad as possible. Add in all other sources of emissions and the graph doesn’t look quite as impressive for the point they’re trying to make.
Figure 1: In the 2019 statewide greenhouse gas emissions inventory, car tailpipes accounted for 119 MMTCO2e — roughly 28% of California’s overall emissions, and more than the emissions from the entire buildings sector and electricity sector combined.
Also a big fan of Pathfinder! I tend to like systems with some crunch, but not enough that it bogs down the narrative.
I’m currently playing Hunter: The Reckoning with some friends over zoom and loving it! We’ve played a few World of Darkness games together, so it’s an interesting change playing an all-too-human hunter instead of one of the creatures I’m now hunting.
