Electricity. I’m a field electrician studying the engineering side.

Electricity is all about guiding voltage and current in a preferred direction as to do some form of work, whether it’s producing light, turning a motor, or integrating into logic circuits to make your computer do tricks.

Shit I haven’t had a vacation in 3 years since my honeymoon, and mainly because 1) money, 2) time. I make decent money doing my own thing as an electrician, but costs have spiraled so far out of control that I’m working my ass off just to keep us afloat. I’ve been contemplating hanging that up and getting a job just to get healthcare and retirement, of which I can’t afford if I want to stay competitive in my pricing.

There is no guaranteed paid time off here in the states, it’s a “benefit” of whatever company someone works at (including federal holidays). And even then, many people are guilted into not taking their allocated time off for fear of very real reprisal (missing out on promotions, etc).

It’s really fucked up and I don’t wanna play anymore.

the first thing I’d do would be login (cause it’s necessary), enable adb, disconnect the internet, block firmware updates, and restrict dns then reconnect to the internet.

You have to realize maybe a small handful of people that own these devices will do any of that. They’ll just plug in and go. Sure they may know how to side load, but they aren’t taking any other preventative measures as you suggest, nor do they have the know-how to do so.

I’d imagine Amazon initiated these via firmware updates that just about anyone would blindly install. The updates probably included scripts to uninstall any “unauthorized” APKs, disable developer options, restore factory system settings, lock the user profile from modifying the system, etc.

I suspect that oil companies have CA over a barrel. Part of what makes fuel in CA so expensive is that CA requires a special blend be sold here, much of which is refined locally. That all said, I suspect that should the state actually impose these fines, the refiners would simply refuse to produce or artificially limit supply, sending prices and CA into a frenzy, the anger of which would be directed at the state. The refiners know this, and therefore the state has limited options to keep the peace.

I’d love to see humanity collectively rise up and tell the wealthy and powerful where to stick it, but it’s important to remember that some small group of dickheads have been vying for control and domination of everyone else at some point for pretty much the entire existence of humanity. This is merely just the next iteration of that.
