The hukou system in China prevents free intracountry movement. Idk if it’s too far or not (no investigation, no right to speak) but it is a concrete thing that differs from say America where mobility is limited more by wealth
The telemarketers is a great new true crime documentary about predatory telemarketer firms that get low paid, marginalized workers like excons and drug users to call and raise money from vulnerable people like old folks and the credulous, mostly on behalf of the police. It’s very funny in a dark way, very up hexbear’s alley.

Americans have no problem ingesting large, often sophisticated, written narratives. Reading comprehension isn’t the problem.
You are dramatically overestimating adult literacy rate. Literacy isn’t just reading words and knowing what they mean, it’s being able to evaluate contradictory claims and integrate knowledge. Level 4/5 literacy, which is required to understand propaganda and history, is something like 10% of the populace, maybe 15.

The theory is that inflation is defeated and things get more affordable when wages are rising faster than inflation. What if you’re making minimum wage, the legislated rate of which doesn’t rise faster than inflation you ask? Simply get another job
