My opinion is that once someone invents a word, it exists forever, even if it’s later marked as obsolete/archaic.

Conversely, just because the dictionary doesn’t have a word, doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.

My point is that one of the things that gets on my nerves (and of many people that live in America, the continent, outside of the U.S.) is that USAians call their country a plain “America”. United States of America doesn’t sound like an actual name like e.g. Panama or Brasil, and sounds more like “we are some states in the American continent that are united”

You don’t even have a name. You are just some states in (the continent of) America that just happen to be united for some reason
