He’s looking for a weaker target that he thinks he can manipulate. He didn’t succeed in LA or Chicago or even DC. But he won’t succeed in Oregon either because the governors have banded together to share information and protect their citizens as much as they can. And because the people he has on the ground are incompetent. And the competent people have been unwilling to break the law for him. Most of the military and national guard are very unhappy with this stuff.

People can’t be convinced of anything, it’s a losing battle to try. The only way to get people to change is to live a certain way and if people admire it, then they ask you about it and you share.

So for example-I’m a minimalist and I really wished my sister would declutter because her place is overcrowded. But instead of trying to convince her, I just shared what my life normally was like. Eventually she asked me for help decluttering, and she felt a lot better about what I helped with. Now we share cleaning and organization tips.

I’ve told my friends I’m off insta because I’d rather be on a platform where I control my feed that’s ad free. And that I rarely see my friends content on insta so it doesn’t matter that much to me to have friends on there. If they get interested, great if not, I’m still happy.

You should be super angry about this. First, clothes sizing is based off of a size 4 fit model let’s call her Gwen. Gwen is the designers idea of the perfect woman. She’s usually white, and she has perfect proportions. All the jeans from the brand are sized up from Gwen’s butt. Clothes are made to fit Gwen, not you, and when you go into the shop, things don’t fit, we always blame ourselves and our bodies. Even though the clothes were never intended to fit us they were intended to fit Gwen.

And guess what. When standard sizes were first measured at least in the US, they purposely excluded women of color. So the basis of sizing is completely biased.

The only positive, there are now a bunch of independent sewing pattern companies that have more diverse fits of clothing. Sewing and tailoring and pattern drafting are the best way to stop supporting all the companies that produce fast, racist fashion. If you want to make affordable clothing, look for a creative reuse store for inexpensive fabric to practice on. There’s tons of free information on YouTube to learn sewing.

When I was in grad school, a French post doc saw one of the pine cones ( some get around the size of your head). She wanted to keep it to prove that “ everything is bigger in America “

All my plants are in my garden because of me. I cut and kill them whenever I like. If only stupid billionaires knew the best way to feel powerful is to garden- those lizards and bees are there because of me I create life! That tree or cactus will be here for hundreds of years muhahaha.

Reporting and news will continue to move to streamers and YouTube and old news will die.

In the US, federal government systems will fail because of trumps policies and blue states will become even more independent, red states that are dependent heavily on federal funds will suffer.

Natural disasters will continue to increase in frequency and severity. Unfortunately at least in the US - people have been migrating to many of the most at risk areas because they are generally less expensive than safer areas, they will end up much worse off.

With a decrease in population growth and immigration, and deaths and retirement of boomers, in the US there will be shortages of labor, especially in fields like nursing, agriculture, and service industries. In many other countries, there are similar issues arising due to low population growth and limited immigration.

Unless there’s a serious depression This will continue to create a conflict between the billionaires who want to keep wages stagnant, and workers and unions who will have more power. We are continuing to see job growth and low unemployment in spite of the mess of tariffs and unstable government

I think independent and small businesses will actually do better in general than corporations if they create more stable and welcoming environments for employees, as well as creating better products that are less enshittified. In spite of everything, due to the internet, it is one of the easiest times in history to access information and tools to start your own business. And working for big companies and government is pretty awful right now.

I also think unfortunately we’re dealing with a major cultural transition as the systems built by boomers are failing but trying to do their worst to hold on as they go. In general, these systems no longer work for a large portion of the population, but those that hate change are in power. I worked in government and it was kind of like watching an incredibly slow train derailment. I think things are going to fall apart more before we rebuild unfortunately.

Almost all rodents in the west can carry the plague. This is why you should not feed or play with squirrels and chipmunks. There’s also regular outbreaks in Madagascar.

I’m taking Spanish right now, both to better support immigrants in my community and to possibly move to Oaxaca Mexico if necessary. I plan to visit a few more times in the next year or so, just to figure out things just in case. I don’t feel like it’s the time to leave yet - I have a pretty good intuitive sense for disasters.

I LEANfired at 44 so I can’t really go somewhere that requires a work visa, and I’m not rich enough for a golden ticket in many places.

France is actually a possibility because I’m fluent, I lived there briefly- but I prefer the art and culture in Mexico, and generally people are easier to get to know.

I’m also visiting my friends off grid in Montana, and may discuss with them rolling my tiny house up there someday. I know there’s a lot of crazy people up there but where they are is a bit away from that.

I just started taking Spanish classes. I had one year of Spanish in elementary school and I’m fluent in French, so it’s been pretty simple to understand Spanish but I need to keep working on speaking. I’ve also started watching Spanish language tv, to try to pick up more vocabulary.

Decided to take it to be able to speak with more people in my community, plus I love visiting Mexico and South America.
