At some point it because a binary thing.
You don’t need to just be good at something.
You need to be good at something AND do something else. AND be likeable. AND be pretty. AND have good contacts. AND …
And if any of those other things aren’t the case, you don’t become the super star.
Sometimes, it’s being at the right place at the right time. Some things can be solved with money, or being the friend or child of a celebrity, and others can’t.
Consistency is so easy: “I’m right, everyone else is wrong, in all questions, for all eterntiy.” Done.
Forget you have a car parked in your garage and it will get dirty over time.
Exactly and then from time to time your clear out and clean the garage. Hence the original post.
Bold of you to assume people have perfect knowledge of what they installed and what they use and how much.
So then, i will have to build my own PeerTube+Lemmy+Misskey instance… wish me luck
I do! Building things rocks!
so i have to do it the hard way and mention @fediverse@lemmy.world so that I can post here. It’s a good workaround, considering it doesn’t have built-in support for communities.
That IS the built in support.
If I am wrong, then is there any way in which we can solve this issue?
Yes you are wrong, just keep doing it the way you just successfully did in this. That’s the solution.
Even if it wasn’t a population density correlation, there are lots of totally unrelated correlations.
Someone made a fun website with them!
The idea being that most scarcity in the world is not due to a fundamental lack of resources in form of material, time, effort, education and so forth, but a decision on how to use those resources.
Yes. And sometimes that’s true and sometimes it’s NOT true. That’s my point.
The way the authors use the word confuses the two. Which is wrong and bad and not helping.
https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/scarce
“deficient in quantity or number compared with the demand : not plentiful or abundant”
Let’s be really clear here with an example:
Housing is scarce. That is a FACT. No amount of taxation or even change of ownership will change that housing is scarce right now. That’s scarcity. We could have a complete and happy and peaceful world revolution tomorrow, socialize everything and the day after tomorrow there would still be scarcity. That’s what the word means.
As for how to solve this problem and where to get the money to invest into housing, that’s where taxing the rich comes in.
But even then we are limited by the amount of material we right now and the amount of people who can work in construction right now and the amount of machines we can use to build new housing right now.
Again, do tax the rich. And that does depend on political will.
Just be very clear in the messaging of what that can solve and what it can not solve.
The one thing I dislike about “THE LEFT NARRATIVE”, and I am generally left leaning, is that “left” people pretend that “left” solutions somehow end scarcity or end things costing.
That can’t be true. Just because a new solution would be more social oriented, doesn’t mean it suddenly doesn’t take material, time, effort and education to do things.
The market economy, in theory, finds fair and correct prices. Obviously when it’s being manipulated that’s not true. But people criticizing it must show some understanding that what they are criticizing is the malfunction and the unlimited negative consequences and NOT the concept of “some things are rare”.
So no. Scarcity is not a political choice. It is a natural fact.
Artificial scarcity, that’s a choice.
“Against the storm” is really really good, I’m not sure about chill. They offer different speed settings and I have a tendency to go as fast as I can.

Wait. i know.
“Terra Nil” is about restoring earth’s ecosystem through building.
Keine Ahnung, besser noch eine Talkshow, mit Fachfremden F Promis ohne Quellennachweise und durchschnittlich 15 Sekunden Redezeit. Just one more Talkshow bro, one more Talkshow will fix it.
This community is awesome, this deserves more views, very cool content! Thanks for making it!
If not, how do you find stuff you care about?
You go to explore, or your home instance feed and follow people and hashtags.
If you have interests, definitely try finding them in the hashtags.
And is reblogging the equivalent to upvoting?
There are no “upvotes”. The idea is that you’re in your little bubble with a handful of followers, and so is basically everyone else. When you find something neat, you boost it, to share it with your followers. If your followers also like, they can boost it as well, and that way, it can spread in a viral way and reach everyone. Or not, if it’s not that interesting and fizzles out.
There are no upvotes because there is no home page. It’s entirely right now. You pick it up, you scroll for a bit, you do something and then you put it down.
I recommend the “federated” feed, to see what I mean. Normally, your home feed is filtered to what you have followed. “Federated” is everything you device can see. All of it. Right now. Slowed down a bit so you can read something, but it’s a cool “stream of consciousness” thing.
Do they have memes there or what’s the range of content?
Everything you want. It really depends on what you filter for.
How does it compare to bluesky?
I don’t know in terms of tone, but the technical difference is that bluesky is only theoretically “independent”, with mastodon, you can have people in basements hosting servers and running communities.
Something you didn’t ask, but that I think is a major feature is filters. You can filter groups of keywords from your feed. So if you want to be informed, but you don’t really care about the specifics of [Team Rockets] Deeds, because they do something every day, you can set a filter for “Team Rocket”, “Jessie”, “James” and it will be hidden, but not completely, you can set it to appear as “team rocket did something again”. You can then still click on it, if you want, but it’s less in your face, if you don’t want to.
Wtf is google offering that you’re paying for anyway? advertising?
Mastodon dot SOCIAL did, the big public instance. Mastodon the software doesn’t have these restrictions.
That sounds pretty fair to me. Very few regular bikers go faster than 20-25. Especially with more weight, like delivery or cargo bikes, and also especially with the e-motor support there is a lot of weight and power behind those bikes.
And bike lines are usually built for “regular” use, not high speed. All the curves, break distances etc. get planned with around that speed and not a whole lot more.
The original purpose of supporting disabled people who can’t use a regular bike is still served and people don’t have to be afraid of maniacs going 50mph in places where “common sense” would already advise them not to. If you’re using a cargo bike, that also still works and you get not so gently instructed to watch the speed with your cargo.
Maybe they could do something where to use a bike lane, it has to be speed capped. Idk.
