Dutch medicine is the worst, man. They will Google symptoms in front of you and just treat those, no thinking of the bigger picture.
I go abroad to visit doctors now.

My company has recharge days, basically a separate PTO budget you can use at any time for any reason. I use them so I can go to the beach because it’s always fucking raining during the weekend in NL.

It was a start up with absolutely silly funding for a bunch of products (b2c and b2b) that were aimed to hoover up personal information under the guise of gaming.
For some reason we were told to start an office in Tel Aviv and to specifically hire devs from unit 8200.
itstoowet@lemmy.worldto World News@lemmy.world•Ex-Labor Secretary Robert Reich urges global boycott of travel to U.S. to protest TrumpEnglish48·5 months agoI’m an American living in Europe for almost 10 years and haven’t been stateside since like 2018. I’ve been homesick a lot recently, but I’m trying to come to terms that there’s a real chance I’m never going back.

Yeah I don’t find the polyend that inspiring either. Software is pretty janky (stereo sampling but I can’t play samples in mono???), song mode is pretty shit, etc
I’ll look into the teensy option but I need to have something mobile as my life is quite nomadic. I got invited to buy a woovebox so I might do that
I thought they were talking about me and my polyend tracker mini
Wish I got the M8 though
If, after having been in someone’s presence, you feel like you’ve lost a quart of plasma - avoid that presence.
William S. Burroughs
That goes for online communities too.
itstoowet@lemmy.worldto Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•"Please fill out this survey about how we didn't hire you."English2·7 months agoYour best bet is to go through companies that are interesting relevant and find someone who is a hiring manager or has something in common with you. Once you find them, send them a nice LinkedIn message explaining how much you love the company/product/culture and if they are interested in having a coffee chat.
Basically, you gotta get past the gate keepers (recruiters) and you’ll find things open up. Most recruiters are fucking shit (especially at mega corps) and are just looking to check boxes. Go around them.
Source: I’m a tech recruiter whose moved from America (at the start of trump’s first term) to multiple European countries without a plan in place.
P.s. have a look at the Netherlands, there’s a lot of need for talent and quite a few companies will sponsor if you meet the income reqs.

I actually just bought a speed booster to get rid of the crop factor on my aps-c Sony a6000, really excited to try it out and get more of that swirly bokeh.
I love the neck-thru design, how does she play?
I’ve always wanted a Peavey, especially a Peavey foundation, but I live in Europe now and they’re not common over here.
Real Estate is dope though
itstoowet@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What part of clothe shopping annoys you most?1·10 months agoI thought it was just me! I almost never have BO, unless I’m wearing polyester. Sitting for 8 hours in a football shirt is like equivalent to me not showering for a week.
I don’t understand it.
