jawa22@lemmy.blahaj.zoneto WomensStuff@piefed.blahaj.zone•Have you ever experienced mansplaining before? if so how did you deal with it?10·5 days agoI am in a field that is more than male dominated. Maybe half a percent of people doing what I do are women and it can be rather technical at times (I am a machinist), so it is impossible for me to count how many times I have experienced it.
Depending on intent and tone, the response varies. A few of my favorites:
- Blaring “Baby Shark” over their voice.
- A condescending “That’s nice”
- Explaining the issue back to them in more detail than they could manage
- Just walking away

It’s also quite long. So while I do recommend reading it, you should be aware that this isn’t something you can casually consume with any amount of empathy.

jawa22@lemmy.blahaj.zoneto Science Memes@mander.xyz•Since we're doing magic eyes now...English1·6 days agoYou are correct. I know that I am crossing my eyes.
Edit: Well, I filmed it. Apparently only one eye is crossing, which has the same effect of seeing the left image from the right eye etc. I admit I was wrong, but I can usually see these correctly. That one in particular isn’t working in my brain for whatever reason.

Incredulous: I don’t fucking think so.
I am a little north of Atlanta, but even in the metro it feels like you can’t help but accidentally be near a brewery at all times.
I would feel honored for that to be the case. It is, after all, a reference to the best 2 minutes of broadcast television to ever happen.
