Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•People who have used dating apps before, what was your experience like?
10·1 month agoUsed many of the dating sites/apps over the years. Tinder, OkCupid, PlentyofFish, Match, Hinge, Happn, Facebook Dating and at least one or two others. Literally found nothing on ALL of them. I had one date from OkCupid, a coffee date. And it was hella awkward, it lasted maybe 30 minutes, and we both went our separate ways.
The very few matches I would get would either net me a “promotional” message for their OF page, or I would get one word responses for 3 messages and then ghosted. I would say at least 70% of the accounts I ever even interacted with were bots or fakes of some form.
One good success story though, and I’m still with her to this day, is from Bumble. I used Bumble several times over the years, and usually had my same luck, but 2 and a half years ago I matched with someone and we hit it off from the start. We’re still going strong 🤙🏻🤙🏻
It’s really a shot in the dark on that shit. You’ll most likely find nonsense, but if you’re a gamblin’ fella, the reward could be worth the risk.

Not The Onion@lemmy.world•In defense of “Wonderful Christmastime,” my favorite Christmas songEnglish
13·1 month agoI work in retail, and any time this song comes on over the radio, I start singing “Siiimply, Haaaaving, a Horrible fuckin’ time.”

Television@piefed.social•‘Holes’: Gender-Swapped Reboot Pilot Not Going Forward At Disney+
16·1 month agoThank God, we did not need a reboot of this movie, let alone one with the Ghostbusters (2016) treatment. The original one did it almost perfectly.
Now if they can just make the same decision the next time someone there is like “We should reboot Hercules but in live action!” 🙄

Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•I just learned 37% of Americans fear vaccinating their dog will cause the dog to develop autism. 😐English
4·2 months agoHell, with some dogs I’ve met, I would argue most dogs are autistic already😅

Good News Everyone@piefed.social•Evidence of ancient tree-climbing 'drop crocs' found in Australia

But also, how is this good news? 😅 I guess because they DONT exist anymore? Lol

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•I never understood what it was people did on Twitter. I understand it even less now that it is X.
11·2 months agoTo be fair, I think the company’s support person one is the only thing it was useful for. I’ve heard plenty a story of someone not being able to get proper support through the main thing they’re using, but once they tweet the company it gets fixed. Definitely shouldn’t be like that, but it is what it is.

Not The Onion@lemmy.world•Evidence of ancient tree-climbing 'drop crocs' found in AustraliaEnglish
18·2 months agoJesus, why use an AI-generated photo? They’re fuckin BBC, they could have paid an artist to do a quick sketch or something.
But honestly I’m more annoyed over how THAT’S the generation they went with. Like the article specifically mentions that ancient crocs could have perched in trees and they DONT generate one with a CROC IN A TREE? Ultimate form of laziness. Probably just typed in “drop-croc” in the prompt and used the first one it shat out.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's a video game that you just don't get the hype about?
435·3 months agoI am fully ready to be down voted for, but Cyberpunk 2077.
I finally got around to trying it out a little after Phantom Liberty came out and the game itself had all of the updates, so I thought it would be the best time to try it out.
I just couldn’t get into it. I got so tired of the constant stopping my progress for dialogue and that God forsaken fast forwarding mechanic that I feel they just put there to mock me.
The game itself is just fine, but I don’t understand why everyone is now calling it one of the greatest games of recent times.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•If you are not a real fan of Marvel or DC you have no right to come see these movies
6·3 months agoIt’s a movie about a guy with stretchy limbs and another guy made of rocks, it’s not that serious dude. Calm down.
Personally, Another Crabs Treasure and Paleo Pines makes it worth it.
I’ve also wanted to play No More Heroes so I’m definitely more into this months than last months.

Movies & TV@hexbear.net•The Dawn of the Dead mall will be demolished soonEnglish
5·3 months agoIt’s funny, the mall in my current city is surprisingly busy still, like a functioning mall. But the mall in the city 20 minutes away? Ghost town. Only like 4 shops open and two restaurants, one of them being in the very back of the mall on the top floor away from everything else for some reason.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•With how shitty some Christians are, you really have to wonder if Lucifer or Satan is truly "evil"
371·3 months agoAs a man who works in retail, Lucifer was an employee who thought he deserved a raise, and maybe even take over as manager one day, but the current manager didn’t like that so he sent Lucy to burn at the customer service desk (hell) for eternity.

Television@piefed.social•‘King of the Hill’ Renewed for Seasons 16 and 17 at Hulu
1·3 months agoAw shit really? I hadn’t heard that. I’ve been watching through the series since the revival season came out and I just got to when Lucky started taking a more prominent role and I fuckin love Lucky.
Unfortunate🫤

I also watched Evan’s video on Kratom and while I kinda knew what it was, I was unaware of all the details (and also how fucking rampant it had becoming in stores.) I had worked at a vape shop for a hot minute and we sold some Kratom pills and powders, but it was all clearly labeled as Kratom and put behind a locked case.
I’m so glad I never decided to try it while I was working there. The only thing I knew about it was some people used it to get themselves off opioids, and I just got a weird feeling about that lol
