LovesTha🦒@mtgjudge.socialto MTG@mtgzone.com•I just banned my second player in almost 7 years as a shop owner1·7 天前@nocturne And sorry for some of the BS replies you are getting. Not everyone understands how tough WotC’s position on this can be and staying in the organised player program is pretty important to stores.

Your first ban I’d be more borderline on, shitting yourself in public is usually not intentional.

There are definitely *too* many sets in standard. And premium sets should never be standard legal (that is one of the biggest mistakes of adding UB to standard).
The quotes from today’s earning call have small upsides, but are a certainty that WotC aren’t going to change what they are going to do. FF selling at launch more than LotR did in X months is going to ensure they keep doing them. The upside is they confirmed they are going to keep printing FF to meet demand (presumably while it is in standard), which should help keep the sales rush for sets to a minimum.

But because toxic men are going to show up from other communities to events at the good stores they still weigh down the good stores. Particularly at more competitive events.
Staff (store and event) need to be vigilent, particularly at events that draw a wider audience (RCQ and such). They also need a hair trigger on what counts as toxic behaviour.
@killeronthecorner @MysticKetchup It’s not like this effect wasn’t in Alpha, it being in a new set shouldn’t be that shocking.

@andrew @MysticKetchup I still think 30 pack boxes were a weird number to settle on. 24 packs would have been much more sensible. I’d advocate for them being only two stacks wide too, it makes product distribution for sealed much easier.

I think there are some limits to what should be done, and always ensure that proxies you use aren’t likely to become fakes. (A line that is crossed when someone acquires the card thinking it is real)

The returning players probably have a better %, but there is a lot less of them, but they may also spend money more freely while trying it out again.
@Lumun @UnPassive sorry let me retract that bit about being bankrupt. Drafts are cheaper now than when I’m remembering if inflation is taken into account…
How, I’m not sure.
@Lumun @UnPassive I’m not sure how feasible getting familiar with formats is these days. When I used to draft 4 times a week it wood uptake a month or two to feel really comfortable. Then you enjoy exploring things for another couple of months before adding one pack of the next set.
Now you’ll just feel nearly comfortable and another set will be released. And your bankrupt because drafts are so much more expensive.
@BigDiction @MysticKetchup Yes, it was strong in smaller formats before recurring it was easy. As a tool for aggro decks to slow down control decks establishing control.
