lowspeedchase@lemmy.dbzer0.comto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What do you like or dislike about lemmy?English5·17 days agoI FUCKING LOVE IT HERE. Only complaint: editing a PM/DM/Post exposes edit date but not edit history - seriously borks threads on a consistent basis.
lowspeedchase@lemmy.dbzer0.comto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•*Permanently Deleted*English24·18 days agoThis is the way. When I had the same dream I took my RV to a remote, rural spot that was in my top 3 for purchasing land in (south of Mossyrock, WA), rented a hipcamp (airbnb for rvs) for 2 months… Views were gorgeous, land was gorgeous and plentiful, people were insanely nice… but man, driving 45 min to wally world (the closest large grocer) sucked ass. The closest gas station being a ~15min drive sucked ass. It was a real eye opener.
lowspeedchase@lemmy.dbzer0.comto Firefox@lemmy.ml•Has anyone else noticed Firefox becoming more buggy recently?English2·18 days agoNot as severe: had a memory leak with dev tools open the other day that crashed the browser pretty quick… also got into a situation where youtube music was open in a tab and that tab ‘froze’ even though the music was playing, couldn’t move it or close it or switch to it.

I stand corrected, you are right. All the links I bookmarked 404 now but it was a UC Burkely funded project.

lowspeedchase@lemmy.dbzer0.comto News@lemmy.world•Ex-military father AT large after 3 daughters found dead in central WashingtonEnglish57·1 month agoNah. We label stuff good or bad for a reason, to say it’s all ‘a human thing’ is just meaningless reductionism. Of course we are capable of it. Humanity is capable of what every human has ever done, got it. He’s not me, speak for your fucking self.
lowspeedchase@lemmy.dbzer0.comto News@lemmy.world•Ex-military father AT large after 3 daughters found dead in central WashingtonEnglish322·1 month agoHorrific… I know he killed himself already. I know there is no real justice in this world. I can’t stop my primal brain from wishing stringing him up by his feet and torturing him to death would bring those girls back or prevent others from doing the same. Edit: He ziptied thier hands and put plastic bags over their heads to suffocate them. This is not a mental health thing, this is an evil incarnate thing.

lowspeedchase@lemmy.dbzer0.comto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•What webapps do you selfhost that aren't media/game servers?English2·2 months agoDang sorry to hear that - I just followed the docker compose instructions and setup Caddy (which was also new to me) on my VPS and I was off the races, no issues yet.
lowspeedchase@lemmy.dbzer0.comto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•What webapps do you selfhost that aren't media/game servers?English10·2 months agoKitchenOwl is my latest addition and I am getting a lot of use out of it - s/o and I use it to share a grocery shopping list, slowly starting to add my recipes to it as well. I used to use a shared google keep list but KitchenOwl works a lot better.

Sure! https://softshellweb.com/shared-hosting looks like it’s $20 USD a year without a promotion/coupon. I bought a holiday special if memory serves me correct.
I purchased a lowend vps for $15 USD a year. Correct, it is not as private - due to the singular ip; however, for my needs it works quite well.
I want to try it out… but the smell test is off: Land on the github and it proudly proclaims the author is not doing this for money, only to help the community! Awesome right? Scroll down a little more to project history… and the first version he created and got bored with and sold. Ok… well let’s click on the website link to actually see what this looks like before cloning and installing… and the first thing I am hit with is join a premium subscription.
I’m not against making money, we all have to - but please don’t act like it’s “not about the money” and then make it about the money.
