51·2 years agoDie Nutzerzahlen sagen was anderes. Klar, die angegebenen 140 Millionen sind da nicht aktiv, aber im Zweifelsfall sind da immer noch mehr aktiv als auf ganz Mastodon.

Bei der EU-Konformität ging es weniger um Datenschutz, sondern anscheinend eher um die Frage eines Marktmachtmissbrauchs. Denn es ist halt (auch wenn man es überall sieht, siehe Google mit Chrome oder Microsoft mit Edge) eben nicht wirklich erlaubt aus einer kartellrechtlichen Perspektive, dass eine große Firma ihre marktbeherrschende Stellung missbräuchlich nutzen. Die EU schreibt mit dem DMA und dem DSA auch eine Interoperabilität zwischen den Netzwerken vor. In den Medienberichten wird zwar immer nur von “Messengern” gesprochen, der Gesetzestext spricht aber von “nummernunabhängigen interpersonellen Kommunikationsdiensten”, was halt auch Instagram, Threads, Twitter & Co sind. There really should be a free and open source alternative for Duolingo. I know that there is Librelingo, but that is currently only doing Spanish for English speakers.
